Captain Gavin and Nick were great. Easy to understand instructions and very friendly, even for a family of 4 with 2 teenagers. We had a great time for our first time fishing like this. We caught many rockfish, some barracuda, and a calico bass. If we come back to San Diego, we woud definitely book this trip again (and maybe longer than 5 hours). We saw sea lions and a few dolphins. Awesome trip!! Thanks guys!!
We are happy you enjoyed the trip! Thank you for choosing to fish with us!
Overall, our trip was fun, but it started off completely wrong. I booked with Captain Brian and his boat the Apex, but instead Captain Galvin showed up with a boat 3 or 4 feet smaller than what I anticipated. I purposefully chose the larger boat (and paid extra for it) because my spouse gets seasick. Needless to say, my spouse was sick the entire time. Not only that, Captain Galvin is a smoker, so we had to endure smelling his cigarette smoke (which we despise) the entire duration. Nonetheless, his mate was great with us novice fisherwomen - although he did snap at my friend and me for “doing it wrong” a couple of times. But, like I said, we did have a good time. I just wish we would’ve gotten Captain Brian because he’s the one I chose after reading all the wonderful reviews about him. Oh, and trust me, deepsea fishing is not for the weak! It was workout reeling those fish in!!
Im happy you had fun and caught a bunch of fish. You were upgraded to the nicer boat(albeit 2’ smaller) due to maintenance requirements. Otherwise we would have had to cancel. The prices on the boat you went on are the same or higher. If you paid extra for anything( or have(had) other concerns) please contact me directly at the number i was communicating with you at.
Crew made sure we got a good trip! They moved until we caught larger fish and made a great experience for us. Eash to talk to and allowed us to have the experience ourselves and only stepped in when needed. Thanks guys! We’ll be back!
We limited on vermillion rock fish and caught several white fish and a small a barracuda. Captain Gavin and Josh were top notch and we had a great time. would highly recommend Fishing Charters of San Diego
