Silva Scales n' Tales Sportfishing llc is a family owned 4 pack charter based in San Diego. We offer a wide variety of adventures aboard our luxury boat, The Nimbus. She's 37 feet of speed, style, and comfort with triple Yamaha 300's, a full open walkaround design, cushioned seating and a private head. Passengers can kick back and enjoy the wonders of the ocean while we cruise to the fishing grounds in record time. Simply put… better boat, better day!
High end gear, bait, expert guidance, light snacks and beverages are provided for your convenience. Silva Scales n' Tales offers both the fishing know-how for hard core anglers, and an ultra comfortable clean environment for family voyages. We are also one of the only charters in San Diego to offer both traditional and fly fishing outings!

**Our trips are limited to 4 passengers in order to better provide you with the premium experience you are looking for. However, please reach out if you have a special request for an extra passenger such as a family with children or a non fishing companion.
Expect to use techniques like bottom fishing, trolling, fly fishing, drift fishing, jigging, kite fishing, popping, and spinning, based on the species you're targeting. We have options for 3 to 12-hour trips, where you'll be fishing for the likes of Yellowtail Amberjack, Mahi Mahi, Halibut, Seabass, Calico Bass, Lingcod, depending on the specific season and the day's weather.

Full Day Trip – Inshore on June 1, 2025 • 1 adult
Booked Mike for an offshore trip 6/1/25, weather was gloomy to start but he still managed to get us on some big fish. Next thing you know Capt. Mike said reel em in where going to catch some Bonita! Less than 5 minutes later were doubled up on Bonita , boats going crazy , amazing time. I can honestly say me and my friends haven’t had a good time like that in many years. Thank you Capt Mike, you are a legend and will be our go to charter for sport fishing. Mike is intelligent , smart , easy going and very calm and collected, overall an amazing and outstanding captain. Mike and his team will get you on the fish!

Amazing Experience!
WINTER SPECIAL Coronado Adventure! on March 23, 2025 • 1 adult • 2 children
We had an absolute blast! I can’t recommend Silva Scales n’ Tales Sportfishing and Captain Mike enough! We caught several species of amazing fish and saw an incredible abundance of marine wildlife. On the way to one of his fishing spots, Captain Mike spotted a whale spout and asked if we wanted to check it out. So we got a bonus experience of getting an up close encounter with a grey whale and her calf.
I went out with my two sons, ages 9 & 11, and Captain Mike was fantastic with the kids. He was incredibly patient and took time to teach the boys different techniques and assist them when needed, while providing encouragement and giving them the confidence to bring in fish after fish on their own.
If you want to learn, have fun and catch incredible fish, I definitely recommend dropping a line to Silva Scales n’ Takes Sportfishing!

Awesome Trip!
WINTER SPECIAL 5 Hour Trip –(AM) on December 28, 2025 • 3 adults • 1 child
Such an amazing trip with Captain Mike! We saw whales and dolphins, which was incredible, and the fishing did not disappoint. We caught Bonita and kept some to cook up for dinner, which made the day even better. Captain Mike was fun, knowledgeable, and made everyone feel comfortable the whole time. An unforgettable experience and one I’d highly recommend!

Capt Michael was awesome. We fished with a different Capt the day earlier. Night and day difference between the two. Capt Michael will always be my first choice going further. He’s knowledgeable and very much a hard worker. Great boat and very fast. This allows more fishing and less traveling. I write very few reviews. This trip definitely deserves 5 Stars.

I booked a trip with Silva Scales n Tales for Father’s Day with my Dad and Father in law. Mike was incredibly accommodating, communicated what to be expected multiple times to ensure we were prepared, and helped us to have a great experience. We came out a little early in the season but still had a great time catching all kinds of fish. Would recommend Silva Scales n Tales to anyone!
