Russell & Sons Outdoors – Saltwater
There's great fishing to be done on the inshore waters and flats just off the Gulf of America. Captain Cory Russell is not only a fisherman but an all-round outdoor enthusiast who also loves to go duck hunting and on Texan river adventures.
When you meet with him at the marina he'll take you aboard his 23' Freedom Warrior center console boat. It's a steady craft that can handle the nearshore waters and flats with ease.
The potential catches here are varied so you can expect great catches and even better meals once you're home. Redfish and Trout are common here so they'll be your main target but you can also come across Largemouth Bass, Flounder, Spanish Mackerel, Ladyfish, and Blacktip Shark when you're out cruising about. He's got both light and heavy tackle to get the job done and uses techniques such as popping, spinning, bottom fishing, and jogging to get the job done.
Live bait is sometimes used especially when kids are aboard to mix it up a bit. He'll fetch that for you before the trip begins. If you want to take your fish home he's happy to clean them for you so you don't need to worry about that. Water is provided so feel free to bring extra drinks and some food along with you as well as weather-appropriate clothing.
Whether you're a seasoned angler wanting to fill the freezer or new to the sport and want to learn the ropes, a great adventure awaits you here on the coast.

We booked a 1/2 day trip with Captain Cory Russell. Our party was made up of 2 Husband/Wife couples. We were staying at Gulf Waters RV park and the ride to and from including using the ferry was easy and quick. Cory was ready and waiting when we arrived. We quickly loaded up and headed out to the bay. Cory took his time explaining the method we would be using for speckled trout. Keep the pole upright and requires quick twitches of the croaker bait fish. Within 2 minutes we were into the fish. Caught our limit of trout, and a few skip jacks for excitement. We burned through 72 croakers and moved on for some redfish. The reds were slow but my wife landed one and it made for some great fresh blackened fish tacos right next store at the Dorado restaurant. Highly recommend you take your catch there.

Thank you John! Y'all were a pleasure to have out. See you next time
We scheduled a half day (morning) charter with Capt. Cory on our family Spring Break trip. We had a mixed group of my sons baseball teammates (four total) with some having fishing experience and some with no experience. Cory was patient and provided advice/feedback on techniques and had an overall great rapport with the kids. The weather was not ideal but he worked hard to get the boys some action and fish. He loves what he does and it comes across with how he is with his clients. We will definitely schedule another trip this summer. Thank you Capt. Cory!

Thanks Eric! Im glad everyone enjoyed it and had a good day.
Captain Corey was awesome! It was my wife’s first time fishing along with my 2 year old and 8 year old boys, and he made it such a great experience for all of us. He was very patient, especially with the kids, and stayed engaged the whole time making sure we were having fun. We all had a blast and made some great memories. You can tell he really cares about his customers and loves what he does. We will definitely be booking with him again—highly recommend!

Thanks Anthony! I enjoyed having yall out

This was our first ever salt water fishing trip and it was amazing! Captain Cory was prompt on communication and his boat and equipment were top notch! We had a very successful day catching black drums and red fish! Captain Cory even completed a water rescue on our trip! captain Cory was the epitome of prefessionalism and extremely personable. we plan on booking with him again!

Thank you Steven! I enjoyed having you Marcy and Elise out. I'm glad yall had a lot of opportunities and enjoyed the water and the pit stop along the way. Hope to see you all again in the near future. It was a pleasure

Captain Cory was great. He had the patience to teach all of us how to reel in the fish. My 9 year old boy said “Captain Cory was so chill” We had a great experience and highly recommend it.

Thank you Isabel! I enjoyed having yall out. I hope to see yall again in the future.

I've been fishing since I was 3 years old and I'm now almost 40. I'm a local to the area and fishing is in my blood. I love bass fishing as well as fishing the coast from the boat or wade fishing. I can't wait to share my passion with you
