Come spend a day casting artificial lures on The Chesapeake Bay aboard our 23 foot Parker center console with premium electronics and trolling motor. Recreation, education, conservation. Did we have fun? Did we learn something? Were we good stewards of our natural resources? Catch and release is encouraged.
Where are you located? We are currently fishing out of Edgewater, MD, however we move the boat based on fishing and weather. Most departures are within 45 minutes of DC and Annapolis. We will determine the precise meeting location the night before your trip.
Is everything included? Almost. Bring a hat and sunglasses and dress for the day’s weather. Feel free to bring a snack or sandwich. We have all licenses, tackle, and custom rods. Feel free to bring your special fishing rod.
How do I pay? Contact the captain for details. Tips are appreciated but never expected.
What will we catch? Striped Bass are our usual target species. August and September find us looking for Spanish Mackerel, Red Drum, and Cobia as we move the boat to Southern Maryland waters. Our kids' trips are focused on bait fishing perch, spot, and croaker.
Why is the boat named Southern Girl? Southern – warm, sweet, welcoming. Boats are always feminine – Southern Girl.
Is there a toilet? No. We keep a five-gallon bucket on board for emergencies. The launch ramps usually have porta potis available that you can use before departure.
Is there protection from the weather? Southern Girl is a center console. She’s designed for hardcore fishing. There‘s a canvas “t-top” that offers some shade, however, be prepared to be exposed to the day‘s weather.
