Captain Josh grew up fishing the Chesapeake Bay, and the tidal river systems local to Easton, St. Michaels, and Oxford MD.
Depending on the time of year, you might hook into Striped Bass, Speckled Trout, Black Drum, Redfish, Cobia, Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, White Perch, and whatever else takes the bait.
During the trip you might be light tackle jigging, Top water casting, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Josh also offers fly fishing, but you may need to bring your own fly gear.
Choptank Fishing Charters is a kid-friendly charter service, so go ahead and bring the whole family along! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Also remember to bring snacks to stay fueled throughout your trip!
Capt. Josh operates a New 24' Broad Creek Marine center console Fishing Machine with capacity for 6 passengers. It has everything you need for a productive day on the water. Rods, reels, and tackle are provided, as well as lures. Live bait is on offer, but be sure to ask about it so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.
The charter boat covers your fishing license, so you can drive right over and come aboard without any hassle! Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. If you don't know what to expect, ask the captain.
It's recommended to bring a hat, sunglasses, bottled water, and sunblock (non-spray). Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Captain Josh has been angling the Chesapeake since he was a teenager, to young to drive. Despite his youth he's spent more than 20 yrs on the water and knows the bay and its creeks. Using his spy glass and he sights gulls dive bombing bait fish and races over to sonar check out “predator stripers” driving bait fish to the surface. Then the jig begins! This coordinated fishing experience requires a fast boat, reliable equipment and solid knowledge of the bay. Josh brings all three. Great fun and lots if excitement. Highly recommended.

We've gone on many fishing trips but this trip seemed very tailored to us. We caught 2 legal size Rock fish (our limit .. 1 each). And my husband unexpectedly caught a 30 inch black drum. It was so exciting to watch my husband reel it for almost 5 minutes .. a fighter fish. An experience of a lifetime. My husband, had a blast as he celebrated his 68th birthday that day .. and our 46th anniversary. It was a great way to celebrate these monumental events in our life. Thank you Josh, for being such a wonderful Captain! The trip was worth every penny.
