Take to the South Carolina's inshore and offshore waters for a whole host of experiences with Captain Buddy and Captain Jay. This is a family-friendly fishing charter geared toward fun and educating young minds on the art of fishing.
The boat you'll head out on is a 26' long beast named 'Side Piece'. It is a recently restored 1978 Mako center console that can comfortably fit 6 guests along with the crew. On board, you'll find outriggers fitted for trolling as well as fishfinder technology to help you get your catch of the day.
Captain Buddy can take you inshore fishing for Redfish, Sea Trout, Flounder, and Black Drum. On his offshore trips you'll be targeting Black Sea Bass, Vermillion Snapper, Grouper, Amberjack, as well as both King and Spanish Mackerel. Unique daytime and nightime Shark fishing trips are also available here if you're up for an adventure!
You catch 'em, they'll clean 'em, you eat 'em! They'll clean the fish right in front of you free of charge and give them to you in a ziplock bag. Don't forget to bring something to put your bag in and don't forget your sunscreen! They'll supply everything else you need including all of the fishing gear and the fishing licenses for 6 guests.
Bottled water is included in trips of 5 hours or more. Feel free to bring your own food, beer, wine, soft drinks, and water along with you but please refrain from bringing glass on the boat. For a great range of saltwater fishing adventures, you don't need to look further than Captain Buddy.

5 Hour Trip – Nearshore & Offshore on September 20, 2026 • 6 adults • 1 childI highly recommend this deep sea fishing trip. Captain Jay was so attentive and ready to bait our lines as soon as we needed. He was so quick and knowledgeable. We would have loved to catch some Spanish Mackerel but did not have the opportunity to. We did, however; catch 2 bonnethead shark, 4 trout, pinfish, croaker, whiting and threw back a spade fish, toadfish, sheepshead, and a few others. We must have left the boat with 6 larger fish and maybe ten small fish. Not only was the trip fruitful, but it was extremely fun. We were even provided with a recipe for our bonnethead shark to make tacos! Thank you Captain Jay for an amazing time!

3 Hour Trip – Shark Fishing - 3:00 PM on April 12, 2026 • 3 adultsWe had Captain Jay and I can honestly say it was one of the best HHI charters we have been on. Booked the 3hr afternoon shark trip. Told Jay ahead of time that we had been skunked 4 straight years on HHI charters. He said he would do his best to break the slump and boy did he deliver!!!! 8 sharks in the boat, a stingray including a 6ft bullhead shark. Talk about a slump buster! Jay kept us on the fish abd didn’t waste time on spots that werent producing. Highly recommend Captain Buddy’s especially Captain Jay!

Captain Buddy was very educational in explaining how to fish in salt water. We all learned alot plus had some great catches! He took extra time and effort to make sure we had a great time. 4 Hour Trip – Inshore Fishing on October 15, 2025 • 4 adults • 1 childThis was our first time charter fishing on HHI. Capt. Buddy was an excellent fisherman and guide. He brought us to a favorite fishing spot, and he explained about the different fish species and various fishing techniques. We caught a sea trout (released due to just undersize), whiting, and a good size black drum. It was a windy day which made it a bit tricky for fishin', but Capt. Buddy perservered and we tried to catch bigger fish, but the sea was not in our favor. Capt Buddy cleaned, fileted and bagged our catch of the morning. A great time had by all! Highly recommend Capt. Buddy's charters! We will definitely hire him again! The best!!

He would help with the rigs and explaining how certain fish hit the line. I have chartered A LOT if boats. I will be booking Captain Jay next year. If you dont catch fish, it’s the fish not the Captain! Everyone had a great time. Three kids and two adults.

5 Hour Trip – Nearshore & Offshore on July 16, 2026 • 2 adultsSuch a great time! My 13 yr old son’s 1st charter and it went perfectly. Went out a few miles off shore with Capt Jay and immediately got into fish. We kept 7 spanish mackerel and a sea trout. Along with that we had caught a bunch of bottom fish unfortunately too small to keep and one decent shark. Capt Jim was very professional and was enjoyable to be around. I would recommend this charter group to anyone and plan on using them again when back in the area.

Caught some fish and some nice sharks! Heavily recommend - when the later day bit got slow he did everything he could to get us back on fish but sometimes it is what it is. Left with plenty shark and some whiting to take home. Thanks again!

Went out with captain Jay, everyone got a shark on, and it was my 4 yo daughters first time fishing. Captain Jay was great helping her and letting her reel. He absolutely made the trip worth it overall, conversational, knowledgeable, and a great angler for sure. Was worried about having a 4yo and a 2yo on the boat but that was immediately quelled getting out there, and everyone had a great time. Would absolutely recommend this charter to anyone looking to get kids into it, or on the water in general and interacting with aquatic life.

Definitely book Captain Buddy! He was literally the best captain of a fishing charter I have ever had. Been fishing in Ft Lauderdale and many Caribbean spots and he was the best hands down. He will adjust to your skill level and impart local fishing knowledge to Mae your trip perfect. He was very prompt and provided 2 straight days of excellent service and a really fun time for me and my teen boys. Very safe and professional but still a lot of fun. This is guy you want to Captain your charter and to hang out with for a few hours. Can’t wait to do it again! Thank you Buddy!!!
Listen, you can’t always guarantee fish, and Capt Jay did everything he could to get that big one to bite. Unfortunately it didn’t, but we did get smaller bites. The fish here are SMART! We had a ton of nibbles, several lost ones, a broken line, and some bait thiefs, so they were there. Overall, it was such a great time, short of a little sea sickness, (also not avoidable at times), sorry Jay! We loved the boat, your company and your determination. We’ll be back, except this time with some Dramamine. :)
