Makai Charters offers inshore and offshore fishing trips from the Indian River, Delaware. Join Captain Lawrence Coyle and his crew in the new season of adventures. Their goal is to provide a first-class experience allowing their guests to be as hands-on or hands-off as you’d like. This is the perfect opportunity to learn directly from professionals and advance your fishing skill.
Hop aboard a 2022 Sportsman 282 TE that fits up to 4 guests. She’s equipped with top-of-the-line Garmin navigational electronics and powered by twin 300 HP Yamaha outboards. This center console can adjust to any fishing trip you take, be it a slow day inshore or an adrenaline-high offshore quest. With a private toilet, a live bait tank, a cooler, and safety equipment, you’ve got everything you’ll need for the day out. She is equipped with a Sea Keeper stabilizer to make your day on the water more enjoyable.
Inshore trips will take you bottom fishing for Flounder, Croaker, Bluefish, and Seabass, while long offshore adventure takes you after fast, pelagic species, such as Tuna, Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, and Mako Shark. It’s easier if you have some experience for an offshore trip but you can have a successful day even as a complete novice. The crew will assist every step of the way, so pay attention, and steal any trick that you can from them.
Feel free to bring your favorite tackle along if you’d like but Makai will provide state-of-the-art tackle and gear. Your fishing license is also covered, so you only need to bring snacks, drinks, and sunscreen. Kids are welcome as well, so you can easily turn this day into a family bonding adventure.

A great day of fishing
We had a perfect day for fishing and Captain Larry got us on fish right away. He was professional and very knowledgeable. The boat was immaculate and comfortable. We caught about 45 fish, including 2 keeper flounder and 5 keeper sea bass. The sharks were pesky and we hooked one. It interrupted the fishing, but it was very cool so we didn’t mind. The marina was easy to find and had a restaurant where we had lunch. We wished the restaurant did cook your catch, but we cooked it that night and it was delicious. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

2 Hour Trip – Inshore Inlet
Great experience for novice young fisherman!
My 13 y/o son loves to fish, and at the last minute we booked a 2-hr inland trip with Larry and Bill. They could not have been kinder to my son. We lucked out with great weather and by landing a nice striper! Larry and Bill patiently answered our questions and gave my son tips he can use back home. Plus, given the cost of fuel and that we used live bait, the price point was very reasonable. Definitely recommend!

6-Hour Inshore 0-15 miles
Great first ocean experience!
Took 2 boys (14) out for a first time ocean fishing trip. We did the 6hr inshore trip which turn into a great day. Captain Lawrence found plenty of fish to keep the boys active throughout the trip. First mate Bill was always on top of the action lending assistant and keeping lines in the water. He often work an additionalline and would call for one of the boys to reel in the fish. Great day!!

Great time
We had a great time and caught a bunch of fish. Larry and Bill made sure we had a great time and even let us stay out a little past our scheduled time to catch a shark. They paid particular attention to my nephew encouraging him and making sure he had the best possible experience. I hope to go out again with this crew in the future!!
