Makai Charters offers inshore and offshore fishing trips from the Indian River, Delaware. Join Captain Lawrence Coyle and his crew in the new season of adventures. Their goal is to provide a first-class experience allowing their guests to be as hands-on or hands-off as you'd like. This is the perfect opportunity to learn directly from professionals and advance your fishing skill.
Hop aboard a 2022 Sportsman 282 TE that fits up to 4 guests. She's equipped with top-of-the-line Garmin navigational electronics and powered by twin 300 HP Yamaha outboards. This center console can adjust to any fishing trip you take, be it a slow day inshore or an adrenaline-high offshore quest. With a private toilet, a live bait tank, a cooler, and safety equipment, you've got everything you'll need for the day out. She is equipped with a Sea Keeper stabilizer to make your day on the water more enjoyable.
Inshore trips will take you bottom fishing for Flounder, Croaker, Bluefish, and Seabass, while long offshore adventure takes you after fast, pelagic species, such as Tuna, Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, and Mako Shark. It's easier if you have some experience for an offshore trip but you can have a successful day even as a complete novice. The crew will assist every step of the way, so pay attention, and steal any trick that you can from them.
Feel free to bring your favorite tackle along if you'd like but Makai will provide state-of-the-art tackle and gear. Your fishing license is also covered, so you only need to bring snacks, drinks, and sunscreen. Kids are welcome as well, so you can easily turn this day into a family bonding adventure.

the captain and mate, were top notch.Captain was very attentive,and the mate on top of things. Csptain put us on top of some big knot heads,came home with 23 keepers, threw a BUNCH of smallies back along with 2 flounders, and ling cod. All in all had a GREAT day. Would love to do it again. Definitely recommend the MALAKAI.

We had a perfect day for fishing and Captain Larry got us on fish right away. He was professional and very knowledgeable. The boat was immaculate and comfortable. We caught about 45 fish, including 2 keeper flounder and 5 keeper sea bass. The sharks were pesky and we hooked one. It interrupted the fishing, but it was very cool so we didn’t mind. The marina was easy to find and had a restaurant where we had lunch. We wished the restaurant did cook your catch, but we cooked it that night and it was delicious. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again.
It was our first time targeting black sea bass on off-shore wrecks. We kept 35 and released even more. Captain Larry put us on fish and Mate Bill kept our hooks baited and patiently untangled our snags.

Captain Larry and Bill were very knowledgeable, helpful, and flexible throughout the whole trip. We caught a lot with a handful of keepers. Will definitely be back!

This was our family’s first ocean fishing experience. The captain put us onto fish, explained the process, and was encouraging to my children. In the end, we were able to catch enough fish for a very delicious dinner, and my son even got to fight a shark (but did not land it before it broke free). I would highly recommend this captain and crew, and am looking forward to next year so we can try it again.
