Barefoot Guide Service is a synonym for an exciting day for the whole family. Spend some quality bonding time with your loved ones and share the beauty of the outdoors together.

Owned and operated by experienced Captain Jake, Barefoot Guide Service specializes in White Bass, Hybrid Striped Bass, and Crappie fishing. The trips are available both in the morning during the weekend and in the afternoon during weekdays. Live bait is the key through the majority of the year but it comes down to whatever the fish do.

The boat you’ll be fishing from is an 24’ Bulls Bay center console, powered by a 250HP Yamaha engine. The boat is equipped with all the electronics and safety equipment you’d need for a safe and productive trip on the lake. There’s enough room for 6 anglers to come aboard.

Anglers of all skill levels are invited to join in on the trips as they typically provide a lot of action and are fun for anyone taking part in them. You will primarily be jigging and fishing live bait around the lake, using various techniques.

Once you leave the dock, all you will have to do is relax and catch fish. All you should bring is food, drinks, a fishing license for anybody in the crew 17 and older, and a cooler to take your fillets home. Everything else will be provided. Your fish will also be cleaned and bagged by Capt. Jake.

Barefoot Guide Service welcomes you aboard!

Hard day still turned fun!
Halfday Weekday (PM) Lewisville on July 21, 20251 adult1 child
With winds blowing in the 20+mph range and 2-3ft rollers in the lake we set out to try and put sole fish in the boat. Jake’s 24ft Bulls Bay handled the weather amazingly. As hard as Jake tried he unfortunately couldn’t find the big schools of fish we were looking for. We tried quite a few spots so it wasn’t for a lack of effort. We did end up lading 3 fish in some pretty rough conditions and I’d happily go back with Jake on another trip in the same weather in a heartbeat.

First time chartering
Weekend- Lewisville on July 26, 20252 adults
First time chartering with my son, was really excited as was he being our first time we didn’t have an expectation. We caught 5 fish (2 white bass 3 channel catfish) but about 3.5 hours into trip another boat was broken down and instead of finishing the trip started towing the other boat in. We were handed off to another boat to be taken back to boat ramp. Which upon getting aboard this boat and see the haul they got we definitely didn’t do well. Captain was great but wish it didn’t end that way and wish he would have said something after departure. Trip was 6am-11am ( was driving out of parking lot at 10am). The other guy that took us in filleted our fish for us. But for 400 bucks probably wouldn’t do it again. Shore fishing better alternative.

Jason, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I truly appreciate you choosing Barefoot Guide Service for your first charter trip with your son. I’m sorry the experience didn’t fully meet your expectations, especially with how the trip ended. While I always do my best to maximize time on the water, in rare cases like this, I made the decision to assist a disabled boater something I’d hope another captain would do for me or one of my clients in need. I completely understand how that may have made the trip feel cut short. I arranged for another boat to bring you in to avoid having you sit in the heat during a long tow, safety and comfort are always some of my top priorities. Fishing during late July into August in Texas can be challenging, especially on weekends when we leave the dock early to beat both the heat and the ramp traffic. It’s a tough window, but I always aim to make the most of every trip. If you ever decide to give it another shot, I’d truly appreciate the opportunity to get you and your son back out.

Captain Jake was absolutely phenomenal! He knew the lake and how to catch those fish better than any captain I’ve been with. Very impressed!

Dreary day turned fun!
Halfday Weekday (PM) Lewisville on June 10, 20252 adults
What started out as a possible rain situation ended up with us catching seven hybrids and one white bass. Even tho the fish were being finicky, Capt Jake did everything he could think of to make sure we were trying to catch fish. Even gave us some amazing evening / sunset photo opportunities!

So much fun!
Half Day Weekend Trip (PM) on May 18, 20253 adults2 children
Coach Chad and Coop were kind, knowledgeable, and got us on the fish. Some friends and I took our young sons out on a morning trip. Everyone caught more than a dozen fish. The kids were amped (the adults lot it as well!). Would recommend 5/5.
