My wife and I went out for a two hour trip with Captain Dave. Following scheduling the trip, Dave called me to discuss what it would be like since there was a hurricane off the coast and gave me the option to cancel for free if we didn’t like the plan. I just wanted to do some fishing however we could so inshore worked best for us. We met up with Captain Dave at the discussed time and had a blast on the trip. The weather turned out to be better than expected so we got to fish the harbor some. Saw some dolphins and other sights while fishing as well. Overall, the trip was awesome even though we didn’t have much luck. Captain Dave tried his hardest to get us on some fish but to no avail, he even kept us out a little extra past our reserved time in hopes we would get a bite. He was extremely friendly, knowledgable, welcoming, and accommodating. I really appreciated him making sure the plan was fine with us before hand, it shows this charter isn’t in it purely for the money, they want people to enjoy themselves as well. Will definitly schedule with them again next time we come back to IOP.
My only recommendation is to express you want him to purchase live shrimp (you probably need to reimburse him). I think we would have had better luck with live bait.
Hi William. We have already had this discussion but over a week later you decide you want to leave a negative review. I was on the water 1.5hr before the charter looking for menhaden to use for bait. Unfortunately the menhaden would not show themselves that particular morning. I even sent a text early that morning saying I may be a few minutes behind because of looking for bait. FYI there is no where in Charleston I could have bought live shrimp while I was on the water and no I do not need to be reimbursed for bait. I would appreciate if you wouldn’t say such and try to determine how I run my business. Long story short we used the bait we had (frozen shrimp), you all caught fish in the 2 hour charter you booked and took 2 fish home for dinner. Other fish were caught on the charter also. Have a great day. Capt Shane
Great fishing trip with Captain Shane. He was very helpful and we caught many fish 🐟. He communication was great prior to the trip. Would definitely book a trip with him again.
Whether or not we were to catch fish, we just wanted to go out and enjoy. Of course everyone wants to catch fish but the captain cannot control that. We had a great time. Shane did what he could to find fish but you can’t control Mother Nature. Thank you Shane for a great morning! And most of all, thank you for your military service.
Shane took us to 3 very specific docks that he knew of where the Red Drums were biting. Caught a fish within the first 30 seconds of the trip. The bites tapered off there for a bit, but then the last stop proved the most fruitful. I caught some MONSTERS - some over 30 inches. Of course a lot of it comes down to luck, but your chances are a lot better with a great captain and fisherman. Good conversation, equipment, and an awesome day on the water. Thanks Captain Shane!
