Come aboard his 23' Skeeter SX2250 bay boat that's powered by a 200 HP Yamaha engine, and is equipped with GPS and fishfinder equipment. It can accommodate up to 5 anglers and has an ice box for any drinks you want to bring.
John specializes in light tackle fishing, all to get you on that bite. He offers half day and full day trips, mainly fishing for Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass, as well as Walleye, depending on the season and conditions on the day.
All rods, reels and terminal tackle are included in the price, just make sure to get a valid freshwater fishing license before the trip. Keep in mind that all trips are catch and release only.

We booked a charter with A Line in the Water for my son’s 16th birthday, and it was an absolutely fantastic trip! Everyone in our group had a great time, and more importantly, we all caught fish. I really loved being able to give my son an experience out on the water that I know he will treasure for years to come. Captain John was absolutely top-notch. He was exceptionally knowledgeable, attentive to everyone on board, and helped us every step of the way. I 100% recommend A Line in the Water to anyone looking to book a charter on Saratoga Lake. You will not be disappointed!

What a great day! Captain John put us on fish all day. We landed more than we could count! He had everything we needed to make our vacation to New York from California rewarding and memorable. He was a good coach helping us fine tune our technique. When he tells you to cast in a particular spot, do it. How did he know there was a fish right there, in that exact location?!?! Book a day with John Ernst and you won’t be disappointed.
Our Captain John was a pleasure to talk to. He was also knowledgeable in his craft. The overall time was well spent my group loves fishing and this experience is definitely worth trying.
