My wife, who has never caught a fish herself, had a blast as well! Gerardo also recommended a Local restaurant to cook some of our catch for us immediately after arriving to the dock. Gerardo was awesome! Put us on snapper and big eye trevalli immediately. While I really wanted to get a rooster, he put us on at least three throughout the day but the fishing gods were against us as they all came off the hook. Certainly not his fault, fully on the guy behind the reel. I would highly recommend him over the higher priced “resorts”. Keep it local, you won’t be disappointed…

My Dad, brother, and I went out with Gerardo on New Year’s day and we couldn’t have had a better time. He knew exactly where to go to catch live bait quickly, and once we caught enough bait, we found plenty of fish to feed our group of 7 for the rest of our trip (and released plenty as well). We caught red snapper, cubera snapper, African Pompano, big eye trevally, and even had a Rooster on but it got away. Overall, we had an amazing day on the water with El Vaquero and would strongly recommend booking a trip with him. Thanks again Gerardo!

We caught a ton of fish of various species using several different techniques: Roosters on poppers, groupers and pacific bonita on fast jigs in 300’ of water, snapper with slow pitch jigs. Capt knows how to put you on fish and is a great all-around guy. Somehow he even got my wife (who doesn’t ever fish) to land a Rooster on drifted live bait. We had a blast!

Gerardo is an excellent fishing guide! After the first day my wife and I were fortunately able to schedule a second day with him. We caught two large Roosters, 4 nice Pompano, a number of Snapper and a few other species. Lots of great photographs and fun. Gerardo is very professional, knows where the fish are and how to catch them. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great fishing experience.

We caught 6-8 rooster fish, 4 groupers and some red fish. Overall a great day of fishing. We had the grouper for dinner - it was delicious.

My wife and I had a great day aboard the Vaquero with Capt Gerry. We caught 10 species and lost a couple of others, including a sailfish. The highlights were 3 yellowfin tuna and cubera snapper. Capt Gerry provides good equipment, lunch and snacks. He speaks fluent Spanish and English. He communicated well at booking and followed up to confirm reservations. He was on time and prepared. Capt Gerry helped coach us to make sure we caught as many fish as we could. Most importantly, he listened to what we wanted to do and set up the trip to cater to what we asked for. After we caught more than enough to eat, Capt Gerry changed things up to go after rooster fish. We also saw a bunch of wildlife to include whales, dolphin and sea turtles. He was a pleasure to spend a day with, so much so we booked him for a second trip a few days later. As a fisherman for almost 40 years, I can say this is one of my best days ever on the water. I will fish with Capt Gerry and the Vaquero every time I am in Puerto Jimenez.

We had such a great day fishing! Lots of fish including a Goliath Grouper(released) Pilot whales, turtles, dolphins ! Great boat!
