Don't let the small boat fool you. Captain Jose and Pez Koi landed BIG fish. I had requested we target Yellowfin Tuna and Captain Jose embraced my request and said 'Let's go get you some Yellowfin Tuna'. Sure enough Jose found a 1/4 mile wide bait ball and an ongoing feeding frenzy. Hundreds of Spinner Dolphins, diving birds and lots of Yellowfin Tuna made for a chaotic scene. All we had to do was put out a live Blue Runner and wait for a Tuna to hit it like a freight train! In short order we landed four beautiful Yellowfin, ranging from 45-70 lbs each. My arms were limp noodles by the end of the day! Not having a fighting chair on Pez Koi made it even more challenging. I was solo on this trip and needed a break between fish so Jose prepared some fresh Tuna Ceviche while I was recovering. What a fabulous day!
Our fishing trip with Pez Koi made the top 3 experiences while on our 2-week visit to Costa Rica for all 3 of us - my husband, 7 year old son, Anthony, & myself. Our guides were incredible & took us to so many great spots to fish! We caught a really nice variety of fishing, even a turtle that we let go. In addition to the fish, we saw humpback whales & lots of birds. The boat was comfortable & the snacks were delicious & fresh! They even let Anthony "drive" the boat back to the pier. Thank you, Pez Koi, for all the incredible memories!
We're glad you enjoyed the trip and for the great review you left us. We're very happy that we met your expectations for the trip.
Captain worked hard to find fish. A few good hits and a few fish on board. Overall a good day on the water. Jose good captain.
Jose and his son Andy have great energy and were an absolute pleasure to be on the water with. You can tell he loves to fish and wants you to catch. His boat is very clean and well kept and has everything needed. Since I had the wife and kids with me, we only went for half day with our main goal to catch fish for some meals which we were successful at. We tried a bit for rooster since I had never gone for one and had a hit but didn't get it. The kids were thrilled to see the dolphins and turtles which Jose recognized right away and circled around so they swam along beside the boat. We didn't catch big numbers but did catch barracuda, pompano, jack, mahi-mahi, and a small Spanish mackerel that we cut up for bait. It's crazy how many bites you get and bait you go through figuring out the right technique to hook up😁 I brought a heavy ice fishing rod out for the kids to use to help catch bait at the start of the day and they loved it. I made sushi with the mahi-mahi which was delicious! I will for sure be booking Jose for more days on the water the next time I'm down in Puerto Jimenez!

He put me on exactly what I asked for. Awesome trip! Many fish!
