Blue Horizon Sportfishing offers a unique experience and multiple angling options to choose from. Their mission is to make your trip memorable. Captain Jim will do his best to make sure you have a fun day full of fishing.
He specializes in light tackle, heavy tackle, bottom fishing, trolling, big game fishing, jigging, popping, and spinning. You have different trips at your disposal to go after Rockfish, Yellowtail Amberjack, Dolphin, Tuna, Calico Bass, and Bonito. Be it a half day or 12-hour pursuit, you’ll sure land something!
Your boat for the day will be a 55’ Hoquim Shipyard that fits up to 22 anglers. It comes with a toilet and an ice box for keeping your catch cool. There’s no dilemma - the boat is spacious and comfortable for long fishing hours!
You’re welcome to keep all legal species caught during the trip. Be advised that rods, reels, and terminal tackle are not included in the trip price. And please make sure to buy a valid fishing license ahead of time.
For any questions or assistance, you can also consult with the first mate and the rest of the crew while on the boat. Tips for good service are always appreciated. They’re really good with kids, so you can bring them, too.

Great Crew and Experience
6 Hour Trip – 6 People Special on October 26, 2025 • 9 adults
My group of 9 went on a half day (6 hour) deep fishing trip with the Blue Horizon Sportfishing crew and everything was fantastic! The crew (Ian, Brent, and Jim) were very knowledgeable and accommodating. We were new to fishing and they guided us through everything from how the equipment worked to how to bait the rods. Overall, we caught around 40 fishes (hake, rockfish, and sand dab) and had great experience. I would highly recommend Blue Horizon Sportsfishing to anyone interested in experiencing ocean fishing for the first time.

Great Birthday trip with my family
3/4 Day Trip – Coastal on July 19, 2025 • 10 adults
It was a nice day and a great fishing trip. Captain Matt had Brett and Ian helping us with the fish and excellent meals in the galley. The guys were all great with finding fish and knowing how to catch them. I hope to make this at least an annual trip with the Blue Horizon and the great crew.

Fun for the whole family

Captain Jim and his crew were great. The Bluefin and Yellowtail weren't within range, so Captain Jim put us in some kelp beds to fish off the bottom. Everybody caught fish and the crew would occasionally hook big ones and let the smaller kids reel them in. Had a great time!

In general - you WILL catch fish. Great food and coffee. The captain and crew. We’re very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed.
Captain Matt: if bites began to dry up he moved us and continued on.
Brett: one heck of a fisherman and can really throw down on the grill.
Ian: heck of an angler, quick hands with getting fish and filleting them for us.

We planned a kids fishing trip, 12 kiddos ages 5 to 11 and 10 adults and everyone had a great time. Lots of action and everyone took their fish home. The crew was incredibly helpful and the food from the galley was tasty.
