Socrates Fishing Charters runs trips from a couple of prominent cities on the island like Protaras, Paralimni, and Ayia Napa. Each place proved to be a prolific departure point for going after big game fish like Little Tunny, Tuna, Spanish Mackerel, Dolphin, Bonito, and Barracuda.
They specialize in bottom fishing, trolling, drift fishing, and jigging. Their boat can fit up to 10 anglers and is equipped with a toilet, fighting chair, and wireless trolling motor. Rods, reels, and tackle are included in the price, as well as the fishing license. You'll find free snacks and drinks on the boat as well, but you're always welcome to pack your own.
Bait, however, isn't included, so make sure to check with the captain what your options are before the trip. Plus, be advised that the catch will be shared with the crew after the trip. We booked this trip as a birthday surprise for my husband, and it couldn't have been more perfect. The captain was incredibly kind, helpful, and made the whole experience so much fun. He explained everything, helped us whenever we needed it, and made sure everyone had a great time. Even I, with no fishing experience at all, caught my first two fish! 🥹 And my husband was lucky enough to catch a beautiful tuna, which truly made his day. It was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. Thank you so much for an incredible day – we highly recommend this trip to anyone visiting Cyprus! ❤️

Picked up from the hotel and taken to the marina. Trolling rods were deployed 'just in case' - tuna season hasnt started yet. 4 hours bottom fishing produced plenty of bites, mainly small puffer fish but also mouse fish, red mullet, perch, rabbit fish (a bigger puffer) and a nicholas fish. All good fun. Equipment was fine, boat was clean and Captain and mate were fun, helpful and very knowledgeable. Our group ranged in age from 6-45 and had non fishermen and fishermen. Great fun and would definitely recommend it.

We went on Socrates fishing trip as a family with limited fishing experience. We were catered for excellently by the crew and during the trip managed to catch 2 tuna, along with many smaller fish in more shallow water. Everyone had a great day out.

We werent able to catch any tuna trawling on this trip but Socrates was able to get us onto some smaller fish with rods. My 7yo had a great time and they were so welcoming and helpful to us. would go again if were back in the area.

From start to finish a very well organised morning fishing trip with brilliant communications. First time sea fishing for my 9yr old son and myself and we loved it. The morning was much cooler and also got to watch the sunrise. The captain was extremely welcoming, knowledgable and super friendly. We caught plenty of puffer fish, red mullet, sea perch and then the more rare pig fish and a lion fish! Good value for money, great experience and fantastic memories made. Thanks Socrates⭐️
