Our team will do his best to take you where the fish are biting. He specializes in heavy tackle, trolling, big game fishing. He’ll mix and match different angling techniques to do our best to ensure a bite from Tuna, Wahoo, Dolphin, Marlin, Spearfish, or Rainbow Runner.

Your fishing adventure starts on a 47’ Buddy Davis boat that can safely take up to 6 anglers. This boat features a toilet, an ice-box, and a fighting chair. All the necessary fishing gear is included in the price of your trip, as well as the fishing license. There will be complimentary waters, but feel free to bring your own.

The first mate will be on the boat to assist with the fish and kids should you decide to bring the little ones on this journey, too. Leaving a tip for a job well done is much appreciated. Please get in touch with the captain if you have any questions.

What the catch policy on Kauai? Our most important priority is that you have an amazing experience, and if you are lucky enough to catch some fish, we will always send you home with fish! Here at Apex we have the most generous and liberal fish policy. Please remember that in Kauai, the catch belongs to the boat. But good news, with Apex Charters no matter how big the catch, you will always get fish! We will send you home with enough fish for you and your family to enjoy while you are on your trip in Kauai. Please know, there are no companies that will ship fish back to the mainland for you. So please plan on enjoying your fresh catch while on island.

Incredible experience

3/4 Day Trip on June 24, 2025 • 4 adults

HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! This boat not only has the comforts of a great riding boat for the conditions, but also AC, a head/toilet, a couch for naps, room on deck, and a fridge. On top of that, the equipment is very high quality such as rods are custom, Shimano Tiagra reels, and lures are very high end some custom/some Black Bart/huge variety. Lastly the captain and first mate were so great with the perfect amount of professionalism and also lots of small talk and joking around. I can’t say enough about the experience! We caught 6 Skipjack Tuna/Aku, lost a 7th, and lost more than likely a wahoo/Ono. That’s fishing, but we got to bring fish back for the family and friends.

Reeling in the Big One

We landed two mahi mahi, a yellowfin tuna and an ono, and the highlight of the trip—a 150lb marlin! 🐟🐟🐟 The thrill of the chase and the beauty of the ocean made it an unforgettable experience. Fishing was fishing today!

3/4 Day Trip on March 25, 2025 • 5 adults

Herbert and Tim were very polite to work with today. The accommodations could not have been better. We all took Dramamine as a preventative measure and when it kicked in we were very thankful for a comfortable lounge area that was inside and had plenty of room to stretch out for a cat nap. As for the fishing, it is called fishing. Some days you are the bug and some days you are the windshield. I'm not saying we didn't catch any fish but it would have been really nice to get into something bigger. We ended up catching 3 Skipjacks and were able to bring more than enough home for a meal while we are still on the Island. It defininitely wasn't due to a lack of trying to catch the fish, it just goes that way some times. I have fished a lot on small lakes at home in Nebraska and am not always able to catch the species I'm shooting for. If you want a comfortable boat, crew that tries hard, great share in the catch, reasonable price, a boat where you aren't just one of 20 or more lined up along the rail, give Apex Kauai Luxury Sport Fishing Charters a look up and book with them, you won't be disappointed.

What a morning!

3/4 Day Trip on December 31, 2024 • 3 adults

We booked a 6 hr private with Captain Tim and deckhand Herbert. With 6’ swell the boat handled better than any other and we have fished on several boats while on Kauai, this was undoubtably the best handling. Within 30 minutes of leaving the harbor deckhand Herbert started setting lines. He had 6 lines out within about 10 minutes. After another 10 minutes a Marlin started smacking the lures. Herbert was never offset by the swell and used his mojo to entice the Marlin to strike, and strike he did. After 7 trips with other captains finally our first hook up with a Marlin within the first hour of our trip. My son enjoyed a 20 minute back and forth and finally we brought the Marlin to the boat!! We spent the rest of the day cruising and chasing other fish until we had a triple header and brought 3 tuna in!! What a morning, my sons and I will remember this trip forever. So if you plan to go, these guys and this boat is your best chance to have success. They were also very safe and professional. We had a great trip and would strongly encourage anyone to experience the water of Kauai. And unlike other trips, most likely due to the size and shape of the boat, none of us experienced sea sickness!!

Awesome boat and crew

Wonderful day on the water with family and crew. My wife and I , along with our two sons(11 & 14) had a terrific experience. We caught some great fish , including a 100+ lb yellow fin tuna. Tim and Herbert were wonderful and took care of everything out on the water. Highly recommend this charter and I would not hesitate to book with them again. Thank you for the memories!
