These waters are known for Skipjack Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Black Marlin, Shortbill Spearfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Bluefin Trevally, Blue Marlin, Amberjack, Wahoo, Giant Trevally, Striped Marlin, and more – with any luck, it won't take long to hook into some. During the trip you might be light tackle fishing, popping, trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Families who love fishing together will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Snacks are permitted onboard — bring your favorites so that nobody gets grumpy on an empty stomach!
You'll be welcome aboard a 37' Cabo Flybridge sportfishing vessel with capacity for 6 passengers. It comes with outriggers, a fighting chair, a fully air-conditioned cabin, and everything you need for a productive day on the water. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. Capt. Ikena has rods and reels for you, as well as lures. Live bait is available, but it's good to ask about this so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.
You'll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. It's customary to tip the Mate 10–20% to show your appreciation.
Fishing License Required
Hawai‘i has joined other ocean states in the country and now requires a license for recreational ocean fishing for non-Hawai‘i residents.
It's recommended to bring sunscreen (non-spray), a hat, and sunglasses. Drinks are included, free of charge. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

6 Hour Morning Trip
Skip Jacks and Mahi Mahi
Made a trip to Kauai first week in June 2025. Never been fishing out in Hawaii, we decided to book a trip. We found Imua fishing charters and did a 6 hour midday private charter. Choosing Imua was a great choice, Ikena and Dillon were awesome and very easy going, felt like we have known these guys forever. We caught 2 Mahi Mahi and 4 Skip Jacks. My family had a great time, looking forward to connecting with these guys again and see if we can find some marlin on another trip. Imua charters will be our go to guys for future trips 5 stars. Thanks for memories.

8 Hour Full Day Trip
February 2025 trip
We booked a trip with Imua fishing having never fished warm waters before…..it was off the charts fantastic! We caught Yellowfin, skip jack, hooked and lost a huge Blue Marlin and then landed a second Blue Marlin. It was above and beyond what we were hoping for and we will definitely be back for more! The captain and deckhand were awesome, fun and super on top of what they were doing making our trip even more enjoyable than the fishing did. If your looking to book a trip while visiting Kauai, these guys are top of the line!!!!!!
