These waters are known for Skipjack Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Black Marlin, Shortbill Spearfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Bluefin Trevally, Blue Marlin, Amberjack, Wahoo, Giant Trevally, Striped Marlin, and more – with any luck, it won't take long to hook into some. During the trip you might be light tackle fishing, popping, trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.

Families who love fishing together will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Snacks are permitted onboard — bring your favorites so that nobody gets grumpy on an empty stomach!

You'll be welcome aboard a 37' Cabo Flybridge sportfishing vessel with capacity for 6 passengers. It comes with outriggers, a fighting chair, a fully air-conditioned cabin, and everything you need for a productive day on the water. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. Capt. Ikena has rods and reels for you, as well as lures. Live bait is available, but it's good to ask about this so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.

You'll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. It's customary to tip the Mate 10–20% to show your appreciation.

Fishing License Required

Hawai'i has joined other ocean states in the country and now requires a license for recreational ocean fishing for non-Hawai'i residents.

It's recommended to bring sunscreen (non-spray), a hat, and sunglasses. Drinks are included, free of charge. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Our trip with Imua Fishing Charters was absolutely amazing in every way possible. The crew was incredibly professional, friendly, and made the entire experience unforgettable from start to finish. The boat was clean, comfortable, and very well maintained, and you could tell they truly care about giving everyone a first-class experience.

The fishing was outstanding, and the crew went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a great time and stayed comfortable the entire trip. What impressed us even more was how attentive and caring they were with the kids who got seasick. Even in the middle of all the action, the crew made sure the kids were well taken care of, comfortable, and checked on constantly. That level of care and professionalism really stood out and meant a lot to our family.

Their knowledge, positive attitude, and attention to detail made the day even better than we expected. Every part of the experience — from the boat, to the crew, to the fishing itself — was absolutely top notch.

Do This!!! These guys are the best!

My wife and I went out for 4hrs mid-day and she'd never fished before. Next thing you know, she catches a really big Wahoo for dinner for several days. Then I lost a big Marlin when it cut the line. They made this happen for us when nobody else was catching fish.  Captain Ikena and Sheldon were born and raised here and absolutely know what they're doing. They are also just really good people, entertaining and the guys who make it rain when others can't buy a strike. We will be back next time. Even if we didn't catch anything, we would still highly recommend them. They are the best shot you've got to catch fish in Kauai.

Amazing Trip!

6 Hour Trip on June 2, 2026 • 2 adults • 2 children

Randy and Dylan gave us a day we will never forget! They had us hooked up on fish immediately. My wife, our two young children and I caught a bunch of wahoos, a mahi and a big yellowfin tuna. Seas were rough, and Dylan and Randy helped take care and comfort our kids while still keeping the lines tight. We will without a doubt be booking with Imua Charters when we are back in Kauai!

We have enjoyed fishing on our vacations in the past. This was the best trip that we have been on. Dillon worked hard to keep lines in the water and was so so good with our boys!!  Randy was great, he kept the boat moving into the fish. The waters were rough and he kept the boat ride as comfortable as possible. I would highly recommend fishing with Imua and we will be back and ask for Randy and Dillon again.

Great trip, better crew!

I have been on several fishing trips in Hawaii and this by far was the best one. The crew was exceptional and they worked hard to get us onto fish. We were able to connect on some fish later in the trip. Can’t say enough good things about this operation. I will definitely book again with them in the future.
