Deep South Fishing Charters

104080 Overseas Hwy
Key Largo FL, United States

Deep South Fishing Charters is a first class inshore fishing charter.  The company uses top of the line tackle as well as providing the most technical poling skiff available on the market: The Hells Bay Boatworks’ 2017 Professional. Weighing only 620 lb, the boat can float in just three inches of water, making it the perfect vessel for the local flats and backwaters. With both a push poll and access to a trolling motor if needed, the boat is versatile and can be used for all sorts of fishing, traveling out to up to 20-30 ft water depth when targeting Tarpon, but staying in shallower areas for Redfish, Bonefish, Snook and more. With a live well on board, the boat is well equipped for a day on the water.

Deep South Charters specializes in light tackle fishing in areas such as Everglades National Park and the Florida Keys. A trip with them could range from poling the skinny water flats sight fishing and fly fishing for Reds and Snook to chasing the “Mighty Silver King” (Tarpon). They also run the maze of creeks and mangrove islands deep in the Everglades National Park, where you can not only catch some first class fish but also experience the rich and diverse nature the Everglades have to offer. If you’re interested in learning the ropes of fly fishing, Capt. Ryan is more than happy to help and tell you all about his well-practiced techniques - however, he also specializes in spinning tackle and conventional light tackle.

Both the avid angler and the novice fisherman eager to learn more about inshore fishing are welcome on board. The company is family friendly. All tackle, ice, water, fishing license, and safety equipment are provided: all you need to bring is drinks, lunch, and sunscreen!

This is a full service charter dedicated to ensuring the best day on the water with drag screaming action! Depending on where you are staying they can arrange pickup from your hotel or nearest marina: please inquire for detail

Capt. Ryan Booth has been fishing in South Florida since he could walk. After he scaled down his fishing activities slightly to go to school he threw himself back into fishing on graduation. Now fishing is his main priority, and he's constantly exploring the inshore waterways around Key Largo, always learning, finding new areas and tracking the fish down. He likes to use his experience to always try to get his clients a guaranteed catch as far as the conditions and the fish will allow. He has been guiding professionally for the last two and a half years - previously to that he liked taking people out for fundraisers and family days out, giving him the experience to now run charters full time.

A good time was had. One monster snook but the rest of them weren’t biting. Plenty of mangrove nappers to get a few meals out of.

Had a great day out with Captain Ryan.  The fish weren’t really biting, but then again the weather and water was very hot. My only critizism (and it’s not a major one) is that you spend a long time getting to the fishing spots, and maybe not enough time fishing.  However, is was a fun half day.

It was a great day on the water but the fish were not super hot! Unfortunately in south Florida the fish aren’t just anywhere and I will not take clients to just any spot I have to know the fish will be there. For closer fishing and hotter fishing I recommend to all clients to contact me and try to set up address to evergldes national park and not key largo that way its a shorter ride by boat or to meet in islamorada for a shorter ride. Unfortunately with anything fishing wise we can not predict that the fish will bite. If it is game fish you are after then many understand the amount of casting and searching for the fish and understand that the bite is not always super hot. If it is just catching fish like snapper or trout please inform captain prior to charter and that will be the species of the day! I tend to go above and beyond for my clients when they pay for 4 hours and the fishing isn’t hot I will try and stick it out longer then 4 hours because at the end of the day I want my clients to have a great time! If fishing for 4 hours is what is expected and thag you don’t want to be any longer and want to rush the fishing then I urge you to explain to captain. Typically fishing Charters start the clock the moment you leave the dock but I don’t like that because I enjoy catching fish with clients. Please inform captain if there is any time changes. Fishing is getting hot! Here’ a picture from just yesterday 05/13/17
