Background
Capt. Ryan Booth has been fishing in South Florida since he could walk. After he scaled down his fishing activities slightly to go to school he threw himself back into fishing on graduation. Now fishing is his main priority, and he's constantly exploring the inshore waterways around Key Largo, always learning, finding new areas and tracking the fish down. He likes to use his experience to always try to get his clients a guaranteed catch as far as the conditions and the fish will allow. He has been guiding professionally for the last two and a half years - previously to that he liked taking people out for fundraisers and family days out, giving him the experience to now run charters full time.
Techniques
Capt. Ryan is an avid fly fisherman who thinks this is a great way to target Tarpon and other species. He makes his own flies and is always happy to pass on his knowledge. At the same time, he specializes in light spinning tackle and is happy to use either method on his fishing charters.

Ryan was a super captain and his boat was immaculate. He did a great job putting us the best positions to catch. He was very concerned about our happiness.

Ryan went out of his way to find fish. It wasn’t the best day out on the water but he worked hard to help us find fish. My wife dropped our keys in the water and he volunteered to jump in the murky water to try to find them. he stayed with us for two hours after the trip was over trying to help us out!

Captain Ryan took us out early am for a shot at a giant tarpon in the middle Keys area.  I had one good shot , tarpon fever hit, and I fouled the presentation, it was history.  The movement was weak and we decided to go to the backcountry in the everglades for big redfish.  When we got there it was quite for the first few minutes, then you could see a2 foot wake of red, redfish by the hundreds in the 10-15lb range with some 25 lb.+ plus bad boys.  We had 2 double and I caught the biggest on the fly rod.  Capt. Ryan is good young Captain that will put you on some great backcountry fishing the salt flats of the Keys.

A good time was had. One monster snook but the rest of them weren’t biting. Plenty of mangrove nappers to get a few meals out of.

Had a great day out with Captain Ryan.  The fish weren’t really biting, but then again the weather and water was very hot. My only critizism (and it’s not a major one) is that you spend a long time getting to the fishing spots, and maybe not enough time fishing.  However, is was a fun half day.

It was a great day on the water but the fish were not super hot! Unfortunately in south Florida the fish aren’t just anywhere and I will not take clients to just any spot I have to know the fish will be there. For closer fishing and hotter fishing I recommend to all clients to contact me and try to set up address to evergldes national park and not key largo that way its a shorter ride by boat or to meet in islamorada for a shorter ride. Unfortunately with anything fishing wise we can not predict that the fish will bite. If it is game fish you are after then many understand the amount of casting and searching for the fish and understand that the bite is not always super hot. If it is just catching fish like snapper or trout please inform captain prior to charter and that will be the species of the day! I tend to go above and beyond for my clients when they pay for 4 hours and the fishing isn’t hot I will try and stick it out longer then 4 hours because at the end of the day I want my clients to have a great time! If fishing for 4 hours is what is expected and thag you don’t want to be any longer and want to rush the fishing then I urge you to explain to captain. Typically fishing Charters start the clock the moment you leave the dock but I don’t like that because I enjoy catching fish with clients. Please inform captain if there is any time changes. Fishing is getting hot! Here’ a picture from just yesterday 05/13/17

Booked a 6 hour charter. Capt Ryan was determined to catch more as the fishing was slow so we got back to dock after more than 8 hours.
Despite the slow fishing we managed to catch a variety of fish, my wife managing to catch a good sea trout which will be dinner tonight.
Would certainly recommended Capt Ryan to anybody looking for a back country charter.

The 1/2 Day trip turned into a 3/4 day trip because captain Ryan was determined to catch fish on a less than perfect fishing day. A northern front blew the water out of the lower Glades and the rough chop from the wind clouded the water to a clay color. Ryan was determined to catch some Redfish and snook regardless of the conditions and put many miles on the skiff through some rough chop or through the longer rivers to avoid the chop. Eventually his efforts paid off and we were awarded with a few good hook ups of snook even though we missed several of them.

Rarely have I seen a captain so determined to put us on fish… his boat was brand new and in perfect condition as well as his electronics. His navigation abilities of the tangled rivers and chanels of the Glades were of a person who has spent many years honing his craft.

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful adventure with Ryan and would highly recommend him to anyone looking to catch whatever is biting in the lower Glades/ upper Keys area.

Capt. Ryan provided a memorable experience for my son and I. We caught tons of big fish and I have the small ones in the freezer ( I can’t believe I’m calling a 27” Bull Red small :) He provided everything we needed and sent us pictures to show off to my friends and family.

It was a great day on the water! The season is now! Thanks for coming out! Glad we could get on some fish! All of our redfish were over 30 inches! We are in the migration now for the redfish and the Silver King (tarpon) now that these tarpon have shown up fishing will fantastic here on out!
