Running fishing trips out of New York City, Austin Outfitters invites you to fish the calm, sheltered water of New York City's Jamaica Bay, lower NY Bay, and the New York Bight in comfort with your friends and family for trophy gamefish! Our local fishery hosts both resident and migratory Striped bass, Fluke, Weakfish, and Bluefish.
Captain Austin was born and raised in Brooklyn and has been fishing the waters in and around the NY Bight, NYC, and Jamaica Bay for over 40 years. He has worked in the fishing industry for over 20 years and authored 250 articles on catching a variety of fish species in NYC waters.
Expect to use light tackle and techniques like bottom fishing, jigging, and spinning, based on the species you're targeting. Speaking of which, you have the option of 3 to 6-hour trips, where you'll be fishing for the likes of Fluke, Striped Bass, Bluefish, and Weakfish, depending on the specific season and the day's weather.
You'll be fishing from a 21 ft. Maritime Skiff 20D center console with a Yamaha 115 4-stroke outboard. She is a dry, stable, extremely seaworthy boat with a wide open layout that perfectly aligns with our light tackle fishing philosophy. She has enough room for up to 4 people at a time. We operate out of two different marinas on each side of Brooklyn and will arrange departure at the marina that puts us closer to the fishing grounds. This greatly reduces travel time and increases fishing time for out guests.
When it comes to rods, reels, and terminal tackle, everything you need is included in the price. Your trip will also include all the necessary fishing licenses for the day.
You can keep anything you catch, as long as it's legal to do so.
There will be complimentary snacks and drinks aboard for your convenience during the trip, but feel free to bring your own drinks or snacks if you prefer.
Children are always welcome aboard.

Austin was supper terrific with our group out earlier today. We were on many different fish species of all different sizes all day long. We had three 12 year old boys and they can get restless pretty quickly. Austin got them on fish immediately. At one point, we move up to bigger fish but when the bite slowed for a bit we went back to smaller baits and started our drifts over to get them catching again. Eventually, the bit turned back up and we got some sand sharks and stingrays! Our kids stayed busy all day. If we ever make it back to NYC to do some fishing, there is no doubt we would book with Austin again!

My wife and I had an absolutely great time! We booked a 4 hour morning trip and Captain Austin was as friendly as can be also extremely helpful, professional and knowledgeable. Most importantly he had us catching fish throughout the whole trip from the first cast to the very last. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking to fish in the lower NYC area and will most likely book another trip with him when we come back. 5 Stars!

would recommend Austin 100% my husband and I took our son. Our son had a wonderful time. We had a good laugh, catching some fish and catching some new fish that we hadn’t seen before. It was an awesome morning on the water. My son and husband have done lots of fishing trips and thought Austin was pretty awesome himself.

Capt Austin was a great guide! Excellent communication and made me and my son feel incredibly welcomed. We tried several fishing spots, and caught new species of fish that made my son quite happy! Great for anyone, but I especially recommend for those with kids. Highly recommended!!
