Running angling trips out of Gulfport, Salinity Matters Charters invites you to a personalized fishing experience on the Mississippi Gulf Coast!
Capt. Sonny is here to share his fishing knowledge of over 30 years. You'll be using techniques like bottom fishing, trolling, drift fishing, depending on what you're going after. As part of their 4 to 6-hour trips, you can target species like Redfish, Jack Crevalle, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Sheepshead, Tripletail, Mackerel, Cobia, and Shark, depending on the current season and weather conditions.
Your adventure begins on board a 22' Tidewater boat that can fit a maximum of 4 anglers. The boat is equipped with an ice box. All rods, reels, and terminal tackle are included in the price so you can focus on what matters, fishing. The captain will supply all the needed fishing licenses for your trip.
You can keep anything you catch as long as it's legal to do so, and when you return to the marina, Capt. Sonny will filet your catch for you to take home. There will be bottled water on the boat for your convenience, but you're always welcome to pack your own drinks and snacks should you want to.

He not only put us on plenty of trout, but when bait started busting, he quickly shifted us to throwing lures at the giant schools of jack trevally and bull reds. Completely unexpected for the day, but when he saw the opportunity he immediately put us right in the middle of them. Landed several bull reds and giant jacks. Extremely easy going, hardworking, and very professional guide. Even if we didnt catch a single fish, it still wouldve been a great outing. Couldnt have asked for a better trip. We will definitely be back.

6 Hour Trip – Inshore/Nearshore on July 31, 2025 • 4 adultsWhile down in Gulfport for work, some buddies and I decided to do some fishing. Cpt Sonny has some GREAT reviews, so we decided to go with him, and I’m so glad we did! Sonny got us into so many fish! We caught pretty much everything possible! We caught a little flounder, a ton of ladyfish for bait, crabs, redfish, speckled trout, more catfish than we knew what to do with, and even some nice big sharks! More than once, every single person on the boat had a fish on. Sonny was fantastic! He had all the skill and knowledge needed, plenty of equipment for everyone, lots of patience for those of my friends that didn’t fish too often, and he had a ton of funny fishing stories to share. I’m hoping I get a chance to go back down to Mississippi to take my family out fishing with Cpt Sonny. I’m so glad we went with him, and I can’t imagine going with anyone else.

Luckily, he waited it out and the morning turned out to be absolutely gorgeous. The fish were biting right away, and we ended up with a great haul. Sonny really knows his stuff and made the whole trip fun and easy. It was such a great experience to share with my dad and husband. Highly recommend - we’ll definitely be back!

First time chartering and we would defintiely recommend Sonny again! He knew the water and where to catch reds and jacks. He seemed as excited for our catches as we were. 10/10
Son and I had a great morning despite the oppressive heat! We caught a handful of flounder, a few reds and a few trout. It was a great mooring and great to reconnect with my son.
