Planning your fishing trip in Seward just got easier, thanks to First Cast Fishing!
You’ll be fishing from the shore, including some spots only locals know about. Gabriel specializes in light tackle fishing, and that’s what you can expect on the day of your trip. You will also wade for your catch. Gabriel will provide rods and reels. Depending on the time of year, Chinook Salmon, Pink Salmon, Coho Salmon, and more could be biting.
You’re welcome to have any fish that meet regulations. Gabriel even offers to clean your catch, so it’s ready to fry up at home. Have a cooler ready in the car! Gabriel welcomes groups as large as 20 on this guided experience. You’ll make your way to the fishing grounds on foot, so dress for current weather conditions and bring only as much as you can carry.
With liberal limits of Salmon, you can have fun and put fish in the freezer. You’ll enjoy the stunning wildlife and Alaskan views. Depending on the time of year, our species of Salmon change. In May, June, and July, there are King Salmon and Sockeye. In July and August, there are Pink Salmon and Chum Salmon. The Silver Salmon start coming mid-August and run through September.
Layered clothing and appropriate footwear are always encouraged (if you aren’t sure what that means, ask). It’s always a good idea to bring sunglasses, bottled water, and sunscreen, rain or shine. Gabriel welcomes anglers of all ages on these trips, including kids. Your fishing license for the day is not included, so members of your group may need to buy one.
The Seward wilderness is calling. Now let First Cast Fishing take you there!

Half Day Trip (AM)
We had the shores to ourselves and Gabe was great at guiding us around to different locations to snag salmon. We had a great time learning how to cast, hook, and land the fish. Communication with Captain Gabe was easy and consistent, and he was very patient with we Midwesterners who had very limited (READ: hardly any) salmon fishing experience. Gabe cleaned and filleted the fish, then we took part of the catch to the Apollo restaurant in downtown Seward. The staff at the Apollo prepared our fish and served it up with potatoes, salad, and bread -- such a great service! Highly recommend Gabe...and the Apollo! Thanks, Gabe!

Gabe & FirstClass made our experience in Alaska memorable. As a family of four with several inexperienced anglers ,we wanted a trip that was fun, successful, and convenient. Gabe did an awesome job identifying each family members skill level, while customizing our trip to satisfy all. Gabe has a great demeanor taking the time to work one on one with those less experienced and providing positive feedback. Lastly, the back drop of our fishing hole was awe inspiring, surrounded by vast mountain ranges, converging bodies of water, and wildlife such as bald eagles fishing along side us. By the way Gabe has two awesome dogs that are extremely well behaved and loyal companions that added to the fun. We highly recommend Gabe & FirstClass!

There were 6 of us. We were staying in town at the Breeze Inn and could not get a taxi to take us to the fishing spot, we called Gabriel and he was gracious enough to pick us up, making two trips back and forth to pick up our full party. The fishing itself was great. Gabriel had the thigh high boot, herring bait, all the rods and a helping hand, Luis. Both Luis and Gabriel helped with the lures and gave tips on fishing and casting. We caught 8 salmon, 1 flounder, and 1 pink salmon in 4 hours. It drizzled a bit but it was all good. 100% would recommend. We had a great time.

Personable owner/guide, Gabriel and his two labradors were great! Picked us up at our hotel in his truck and took us to location. I told him I wasn’t a big fisherman and mostly just liked fish sticks. So he made me fresh Alaskan Pollack sticks ahead of time that we munched on during the ride back. The Alaskan vacation was mostly for my son who just graduated HS because he is a big fishing fan. I get sea sick so the option of shore fishing in waders so I could participate with my son and main squeeze without me heaving my guts out over the side of a boat (in front of complete strangers) was a no brainer for me. So I gladly booked it ahead of the trip. We saw a Bald Eagle swoop down and grab a fish head we fed it. That was very cool. Gabe’s work partner was a school teacher who helps out during the season and was equally wonderful. My unreliable memory of his name is pathetic. I would recommend booking an adventure with them for sure

We had a party of six and did a half day (4 hour) trip. We fished along a river and used both lures and snag fishing. The fish weren’t cooperating well today so we didn’t catch a lot, but our group did catch one Dolly Varden, and two salmon (Sockeye and Pink). Our group were not experienced at fishing and Gabe and Louis were excellent teachers. Even without catching a lot of fish, this trip was so fun. It made us all talk about getting equipment and going fishing long after this trip.
