About the Captain

Paul Johnson
Islamorada, Florida, United States
Member since August 2015
Capt. Paul grew up fishing in the area, spending most of his childhood on the reef fishing for Snapper. All he wants to do is share his passion for fishing with other people, which is why he's now been in the charter business for 36 years. Many happy customers and successful trips later, he still can't get enough of watching his customers reeling in a huge Mahi or Marlin.

This was an experience of a lifetime. Captain Paul and First Mate Tony were professional and very good at their job, finding and catching fish. Everyone had a great time and we enjoyed every minute. Thank you for a super experience and look forward to doing a longer (full day) trip in the future!

The good -
This boat is large, clean and comfortable. The captain and mate were helpful and friendly. Captain Paul was great at communicating before the trip since there were some weather possibilities.

The bad -
We could literally swim from the place we anchored to fish from back to the boat slip. And we anchored right in a busy channel.  The explanation was that the fish hang out in the channel because the fishermen dump their scraps there. I understand that, but it wasn’t fun to any of the 6 of us on the boat being so close to where the boat parks. I think it should be stated VERY CLEARLY in the description of the trip that the boat barely leaves the dock. Then people could make an informed decision.

The neutral -
We didn’t catch a single fish, but that’s the unpredictable nature of fishing. Captain Paul did discount our trip fee.
