Book your next trip with Moorea Sunrise Fishing and discover what it’s like to fish in Moorea-Maiao. With Captain Franck at the helm, you’ll benefit from years of knowledge and experience.

Yellowfin tuna, wahoo, bonito, blue marlin, mahi mahi, aiguillette, Pacific barracuda, snapper, blue trevally and many other species can take the bait, depending on conditions. For these species, you’re likely to be trolling and bottom fishing using light or heavy tackle. Please note that the captain makes every effort to preserve the island’s resources, so coral fish will be returned to the water.

Families spending the day on board will be delighted to learn that children (aged 8 and over) are welcome on board! We recommend that you bring sunglasses, sunscreen (without spray) and snacks. Drinks are also available. 

Your fishing boat for the day is a 22-foot center console with room for 3 passengers. Rods, reels and tackle await you, along with lures. Local fishing licenses are not required for all members of your party. Some species may be protected or require a tag to keep, so make sure you know what to expect.

    2 fishermen max. For those who come with their own popping and jigging equipment I place you along the reef with your own lures. Information: The reef drop-offs go very quickly from a depth of 50m to 200m, 500m and more. If it is windy it creates a strong drift, which can make jigging difficult because quickly in an area too deep. A swell of 2-3m can also make the approach to the reef to cast difficult. We release most reef species to preserve Moorea but possibility of selecting a meal if you catch it!

We troll near the outer drop-offs of the reef, and if there is little or no wind, we fish vertically with rods (live bait, bait, lure). If there is too much wind, we only troll. If we see tuna hunting offshore, we go for it! We release most reef species to preserve Moorea, but you can select a meal if you catch it!

Please ensure before booking that you are not prone to seasickness. We have to warn you that fishing is an activity where catches cannot be guaranteed. we will do everything in our power to ensure that this is the case! If we catch, we share pelagic with you .

We release most of the reef species to preserve Moorea and we share the Pelagics. If the wind gets up during the day, this outing can be rough and we can get wet.

With a fishing rod in my hand since I was 6 years old, I first fished in the river in France. I've been living in Polynesia for more than 30 years, and I have traveled all over the archipelagos for sportfishing trips and local techniques. My favorites are spinning rods, lures or natural baits, casting, deep sea fishing, and trolling. One of my great pleasures is to introduce fishing to beginners and young people.
