Black Drum, Flounder, Redfish, Spotted Seatrout, and more could be biting, depending on when you go. You’ll target your catch by light tackle fishing, popping, drifting, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Any fish within the legal limit is yours to keep. Plus, you can have your catch cleaned. Now that’s dinner!
Your excursion begins aboard a 23’ Bay boat with space for 4 passengers. It has all the essentials. You’ll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you. Before coming aboard, you’ll need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain.
Kids are welcome and must wear life vests. It’s never a bad idea to bring snacks, drinks, sunblock (non-spray), and sunglasses. There will be water provided. If you’d like to bring other drinks, just let the captain know, and he will provide a cooler. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Great morning on the water.

Captain America (Eric) was on time, we were on time so it started out great. Hooked a few early on - pulled in a couple of nice fish - even a sting ray which was interesting. Captain kept his head on a swivel keeping us safe from others. Was impressed with use of the kill switch wristband. Have been on too many guide trips to count and don’t think I’ve ever seen another be so consistent. Thank you and see you again soon. (When it cools off a bit).

Hot July Morning Fish with Capt Eric
5 Hour Trip on July 27, 2023 • 1 adult
Arrived at Cove Harbor at 5:50 for a 6am push off. Capt Eric had the boat in the water running lights on and ready for me. We took off. We fished areas with lots of bait, saw many redfish tailing within our casting range. His boat deck was great for standing, the trolling motor got us into shallow water, and the power pole allowed us to work a place with stealth. Each area in Aransas Bay was teeming with bait that we watched scatter when birds swung low overhead. We can across dolphin in a couple hot spot places Capt Eric found to be good in the past trips.
This hot July 27 morning with water temperature at 90 degrees, the fish just weren’t taking what we offered. One undersized red, one hardhead and a bonnet shark. It’s like they say - you can get where they are but you can’t make them take your bait.
I enjoyed my half day fishing with Capt Eric. I will call on him again when I get down to Rockport.
