If you're ready to enjoy fishing in Herradura, we've got you covered with American Charters. Your guide for the day is Captain Yemery offering years of local experience.

Species like Mahi Mahi, Black Marlin, Striped Marlin, Roosterfish, Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, and more are in the cards, depending on the time of year. You'll target your catch by light tackle fishing, trolling, or maybe something more specialized in this area.

Families who love fishing together will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Also remember to bring snacks – luckily, Capt. Yemery will have some on board!

You'll be welcome aboard a 28' Topaz offshore sport fishing powered by 2026 twin 240 hp yanmar that holds up to 4 passengers. It comes with outriggers, downriggers, and all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, as well as lures. Live bait is available, but be sure to ask about it so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.

Trips are run with the help of a First Mate. A 10–20% tip is customary to show your appreciation for their hard work.

You will need to purchase a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.

A few items to bring include sunglasses, and sunblock (non-spray). Drinks will be available for you. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be food and some light snacks provided on board.

Once we got onboard, the day was a great day. We're a family of 5, with boys 15, 13, and 10. We caught 2 marlin and 1 sailfish. Was really cool first experience with sport fishing in deep water. We were really hoping to have something we could keep and eat, but such is fishing... the capt and crew were obviously working and trying so it's definitely more about the capricious ocean than anything they did or did not do. The lunch was fantastic and the snacks were great - we were pretty much eating all day long! Drinks too and I would have loved to have had a few more beers (had one) but I was low-grade sea sick most of the day so beer was definitely not on my menu.

Half Day Trip – Offshore on May 2, 2025 • 4 adults
We arrived at the beach to meet the water taxi to take us to the boat that best describes how we would feel at the end of the trip. The water taxi took us to the boat named SATISFACTION .We didn't know what to expect But coming from Florida means we arent new to fishing. Everything from talking to the owner before the trip, to meeting Captain Yermey and the team David and Bradley. They spoke good english and was solely focused on putting us on fish. After some intense trolling we struck fish gold with frigate birds working and a Log loaded with Mahi. We caught and kept 18 fish and put back about the same amount before he signaled to sister boats to join in on the fun. We had plenty of drinks and fresh cut pineapple... and for lunch we had a fresh mahi sushimi with all the fixins... As a guy who has fished from San Diego for Blue-Fin to the Florida keys this ranked in my top 5 for catch, comraderie, and just fun with the fellas... If you want. If you want hook up- contact American charters. We are already planning the next excursion and we haven't left here yet.... TIGHT LINES.

FIVE YELLOW FIN TUNA CAUGHT!!!!!
Full Day Trip on May 8, 2025 • 4 adults
This was our first off shore fishing trip in Costa Rica and it was fantastic!!! Right off the back we hooked two sailfish but unfortunately we lost them. However, Our captain Jeremy got us on the next spot right away, we caught FIVE Yellow fin Tuna, the biggest was 80 lbs!!! The first mates Walton and Bradley were great, getting the fish hooked and even helping my wife reel in the biggest catch!! It was a great day and we would definitely recommend this charter and crew to anyone wanting to catch the trophy catch!

Went to Costa Rica in search of a Rooster Fish and was able to make that happen with American Charters. Good boat, good equipment, and better crew. The only downside to the entire trip was my wife and Son got to feeling bad early and we had to go in, but this is no fault to the boat, crew or captain. I would recommend this trip to anyone that wants a rooster fish. I had a great time and if I ever get a chance to go back to Costa Rica I will go back with American charters!

Captain Jeremy and first mate Chaka were incredible to say the least. They constantly worked hard all charter while giving excellent service with drinks and snacks. I did the offshore fishing charter and was able to catch two sail fish (Velas— en espanol)
