Planning your shore fishing trip in Monterey just got easier, thanks to Tide to Field.
Here you won't be far from inshore waters, including some spots that only the locals know about. The name of the game around here is light tackle fishing, which is what you'll be doing on the day of your trip. You may also jig for your catch. Lauren will provide rods and reels, as well as lures and live bait.
Striped Bass, Surf Perch, Halibut, Rockfish, and more can be found in these waters if you cast your line at the right time of year. Lauren can take groups as large as 5 on this guided experience. You'll be fishing without a boat, so expect to make your way on foot and come dressed for current weather conditions.
Everyone in your group should buy a local fishing license ahead of time. You can find out more online, including exceptions that may apply. Plan to dress in layers and appropriate footwear (if you aren't sure what that means, just ask). It's never a bad idea to bring sunglasses, sunscreen, and bottled water in a backpack. Ready to have the whole family unplug? Then you'll be glad to know that kids are more than welcome. It's been awful to live this close to the beach ans not have the skills to make that dream a reality for him. Lauren and her Tide to Field helped me do that. She was communicative, messaging me withing minutes of booking. She was patient with both unskilled mom and squirrels 11 year old. Provided snacks were on point. But more than anything, she wanted us to have fun and learn, showing us how yo identify good spot to cast, tie knots, hook bait, and cast. We'll definitely book another trip to continue growing as anglers.

Lauren was an excellent guide who knew exactly where to take us to land fish! She came prepared with everything we needed and wasted no time getting our lines in the water. We had a VERY successful day that made us the envy of the other, regular fishermen around us. She was very patient and attentive throughout, ensuring our young son had a rod and reel in his hands almost the whole time. At the end, she even gutted and cleaned a few of our fish, so we could taste our catch! HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Fishing is in my blood. I had been tagging along with my grandparents surf fishing and dad freshwater fishing since before I can remember. I was always in awe of the different types of fish that were being put on the dinner table. As an adult, my passion for the outdoors expanded, and I started exploring beyond the surf and freshwater and to the field. I began studying foraging and archery hunting. I am constantly reading and expanding my knowledge of trees, native plants, and animals. I have been working in the food and beverage industry for the past 15 years. My upbringing and working so close to food really brought into focus the importance of sustainable production and consumption. I decided to start Tide to Field to be able to dedicate time to the outdoors and introduce it to others.
