Planning your shore fishing trip in Monterey just got easier, thanks to Tide to Field.

Here you won’t be far from inshore waters, including some spots that only the locals know about. The name of the game around here is light tackle fishing, which is what you’ll be doing on the day of your trip. You may also jig for your catch. Lauren will provide rods and reels, as well as lures and live bait.

Striped Bass, Surf Perch, Halibut, Rockfish, and more can be found in these waters if you cast your line at the right time of year. Lauren can take groups as large as 5 on this guided experience. You’ll be fishing without a boat, so expect to make your way on foot at least part of the time and come dressed for current weather conditions.

Everyone in your group should buy a local fishing license ahead of time. You can find out more online, including exceptions that may apply. Plan to dress in layers and appropriate footwear (if you aren’t sure what that means, just ask). It’s never a bad idea to bring sunglasses, sunscreen, and bottled water in any weather conditions.

Lauren will have some snacks and drinks for you. Ready to have the whole family unplug? Then you’ll be glad to know that kids are more than welcome. Fishing is in my blood. I had been tagging along with my grandparents surf fishing and dad freshwater fishing since before I can remember. I was always in awe of the different types of fish that were being put on the dinner table. As an adult, my passion for the outdoors expanded, and I started exploring beyond the surf and freshwater and to the field. I began studying foraging and archery hunting. I am constantly reading and expanding my knowledge of trees, native plants, and animals. I have been working in the food and beverage industry for the past 15 years. My upbringing and working so close to food really brought into focus the importance of sustainable production and consumption. I decided to start Tide to Field to be able to dedicate time to the outdoors and introduce it to others.
