The Big Anchovy is a unique, small boat, private fishing charter. One to 2 people can fish comfortably aboard the 2022 Stabicraft, model 1550 Fisher. Powered by a 70 HP Yamaha outboard, the "Chovy" is a beast of a boat, equipped with Garmen electronics, an electric trolling motor, Scotty downriggers, a live bait tank, and many more features. Rods, reels, bait, and tackle are all provided.

Launching out of Santa Cruz Harbor, you can have the opportunity to fish anywhere from Moss Landing to Ano Nuevo and all the local nearshore and offshore reefs in between. Target species include Halibut, Rockfish, Lingcod, Salmon, Petrale Sole, and Bluefin Tuna. You can also expect to see whales, dolphins, sea lions, and birds, as Monterey Bay is loaded with wildlife.
 
Be sure to bring a current fishing license, which can be purchased at your local West Marine or online. Captain Erik can assist if needed. Also, pack the food and drink of your choice. Alcohol is okay, but please, no glass. Your catch will be cleaned, filleted, and bagged for you to transport home.

    Local nearshore or deep reef fishing, depending on the weather. Techniques can include jigging, drifting live bait, or bounce balling. Rockfish are abundant in a variety of species and sizes. Lingcod are aggressive predators, which can be jaw-droppers when they surface. Halibut are notorious for big head shakes and their delicious meat. This trip is a great way to experience the variety of fish in our local waters. This trip is seasonal.

    We will be cruising around, looking for birds and bait in the Monterey Bay Canyon (usually), using downriggers to troll anchovies, hoochies, and lures. Get ready When that clip pops because King Salmon can be erratic! From bite to fight to net, King Salmon gets the blood pumping. This trip is seasonal. CLOSED FOR 2024

    Hands on crabbing experience. Hoop nets or pots depending on the regulation. Work load includes spotting bouys, pulling pots, sorting and measuring crab, coiling line.... If you want to watch me do all that, thats fine too! During the soaking period we can catch sand dabs, sole, black cod, mackerel or anything else in the area.

    This is a private one-on-one charter to hunt down one of the most prized fish of the sea: the Bluefin Tuna. These trips are not for the faint of heart. Long days and powerful fish. They can range from 50 to 200 lb. We can find them 15 to 30 miles out, so strong sea legs are necessary. Tactics include high-speed trolling lures, slow-trolling live bait, and casting surface irons. A Tuna trip can haunt you in your dreams or feed you and your friends for months. This trip is seasonal.
