Capt. Joe has been a professional fishing guide for over a decade, with experience from Ohio to Alaska and back. Your Captain is not just another guy with a captain's license, Joe is a die-hard fisherman/guide who enjoys showing customers a great time on the water. A professional atmosphere, along with expert knowledge, ability to teach, and safety are standard.
Lake Erie is a fantastic fishery, home to Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Freshwater Drum, and Steelhead, which are stocked. There are many other species in Lake Erie also. You can expect to do some light tackle fishing, trolling, drifting, jigging, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Joseph also offers fly fishing.
You'll be fishing from a Ranger 622 Pro Deep-V fishing boat that is outfitted for all aspects of fishing. The boat comfortably fishes 4 people. It has Livescope, leading electronics and all the essentials. Rods, reels, tackle, and any bait are covered by the charter. You will need to purchase a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain.
It's always wise to bring rain gear, sunglasses, sunscreen (non-spray), bottled water, and a hat. If you'd like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, so long as you avoid glass bottles.
Fishing takes place across the south border of lake Erie. Boat launch locations go from oak harbor, Ohio to Ashtabula, Ohio. Depending on the time of year and best fishing available. Boat is trailered.

Our morning on the lake was incredibly successful, as we captured a limit of above-average walleye, making for an unforgettable fishing adventure. Captain Joseph Beno is a consummate professional who clearly knows his craft. From the moment we set out, it was evident that his knowledge and expertise were going to ensure a great day on the water. His equipment is top-notch, reflecting his commitment to providing the best experience possible for his guests. The boat was comfortable and well-maintained, and Captain Joseph navigated the early morning waves with ease. As for our limit, Captain Joseph threw back at least another limit of legal fish, insisting we could do better. Overall, the combination of excellent service, quality equipment, and the thrill of reeling in impressive catches made for a perfect fishing excursion. Afternoon trolling trip - Walleye on August 4, 2025 • 3 adultsEven though we booked a four hour trip we caught our limit in one hour and fifteen minutes. We only got a few walleye too small to keep and zero bycatch. We got a few very large walleye. The captain was very knowledgeable and helpful and put us on fish almost nonstop. The ride out was eleven miles and a little bit intense. Overall the trip was a lot of fun and very successful.

Due to suboptimal conditions, we had to hunt for the fish…but once we found them, we were able to limit out on walleyes. This was a second trip with him, woukd definitely book again.
Joe was a great guide! He was extremely accommodating, and made the experience one we won’t soon forget. On a difficult day of fishing due to recent bad weather, he never rested making adjustments and changing out lures and depths until we found success. He’s incredibly knowledgeable and certainly ran circles round our very basic fishing knowledge. Truly a professional. We’ll be happy to head out on another fishing day just as soon as we can get back to the area. Thanks Joe!

Even after heavy storms for the past couple of days, we were still able to catch several fish and a few walleye. Captain Joe is very knowledgeable with state of the art equiptment and made great distance with the time we had. Looking forwars to booking another trip!
