Legacy Charter Fishing
Morehead City has a fish with your name on it, so let Legacy Charters help you catch it!
Around here, the fishing is popular for Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Yellowfin Tuna, Blackfin Tuna, Wahoo, Sailfish, Gray Triggerfish, Vermilion Snapper, Gag Grouper, Spanish Mackerel, Kingfish, and more if conditions are right. On the day of your trip, you're likely to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle.
Capt. Lathan will bring you aboard a 42' Sport fishing boat with room for 6 passengers. It comes with outriggers, downriggers, a fighting chair, and all the essentials. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, along with lures. The crew will catch live bait for you before the trip.
There will be a First Mate on board to help your trip run smoothly. A 20% tip is customary to show appreciation for their hard work. The charter boat covers your fishing license, just show up ready for some fishing! Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. Your captain will help you follow regulations while you fish.
Legacy Charters is a kid-friendly charter service, so go ahead and bring the whole family along! Children must provide and wear their own USCG-approved life vests. You can't go wrong when you bring snacks, drinks, sunglasses, and sunscreen (non-spray). Alcohol is allowed in moderation. Just be sure to avoid glass bottles.

We were so happy to enjoy our first charter with this crew! We caught 15 good sized Spanish Mackerel, and a blue fish as well as an entertaining lizard fish on this 4 hour in-shore charter. We also saw dolphins and enjoyed music while boating past iconic scenes such as Fort Macon and Cape Lookout. Captain Lathan and First Mate Jackson were so very awesome!!! We received top treatment from Jackson with handling the lines and cleaning our fish at the dock. The boat is beautiful, clean, and it handles the waters extremely well! So impressed with The Legacy!!! We will definitely book another trip soon!

Thank you Dionne. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Captain & Jackson were a great team. Daughter, wife & I did an afternoon nearshore trip, we got on fish quick & then changed up to try our hand at sharks, We pulled a 4’ hammerhead up almost immediately! A few other smaller spotted varieties were caught & we had a lotta fun pulling in those toothed beasts. We were in good hands the whole time. Jackson kept the lines clear & baited. Next trip will be the off shore, probably w/o the ladies as theyre not as much into fishing as I am. Thanks guys, will see you next season! James, Donna & Leanna
My family and I had the time of our lives out on the Legacy with Captain Lathan and First Mate Jackson — two men who clearly came out of the womb knowing how to fish 😂🐟 We’re from the Bahamas 🇧🇸 so naturally we pulled up thinking we were about to show them how we do things. We even tried it… and Captain Lathan just gave us that “I told y’all so” smile 😅 Let’s just say he was 100% right, and we learned real quick that North Carolina fish do NOT care about Bahamian techniques. But the laughs? Nonstop. The vibes? Immaculate. The boat? Beautiful. The crew? Elite. This company is family‑oriented, professional, down‑to‑earth, and just plain fun. They treated us like family, taught us new tricks, and made sure we had a day we’ll be talking about for YEARS. I would recommend Captain Lathan, Jackson, and the Legacy 100 times over — and yes, we’re already planning to go back 🙌💙
Nathan and Jackson was a geat Captain and Firstmate. They put on multiple schools of Spanish and some Kings. We had the best time and the accommodations was top notch.we are definitely going to schdule another trip with them.
The boat was clean and comfortable. The Capt and Mate were super knowledgeable and friendly. We caught Mahi, Barracuda, King, Spanish, and Albacore. We walked away with great memories and good fish. We can’t wait to fish with these guys again!
I grew up on the waters of Carteret County and know them like the back of my hand. Fishing has always been my passion. I have fished up and down the east coast for pelagic fish such as Sailfish, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Yellow Fin Tuna, Blue Marlin, and many other species. Spent some of my younger years on the Offshore Outlaw chasing Giant Bluefin Tuna. For several seasons I worked as a mate on the Restless Lady II, out of Ocean City, M.D. In 2020 we won first place in the Tuna division during the White Marlin Open, which was an experience of a lifetime! Before purchasing my own sportfishing charter boat, I spent some time fishing in the Bahamas. Now I'm more excited than ever to put you on the fish!
