Depending on the time of year, you might hook into Crappie, Northern Pike, Sunfish, Bluegill, Yellow Perch, Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Bowfin, and anything else that bites. While Derek specializes in fly fishing, he is an expert with spinning, jigging, or maybe something more specialized in this area. All necessary gear is included.
You can keep the fish you catch within size and bag limits. Catch cleaning is available, so you can take your fish home to eat. You can't go wrong when you bring snacks, drinks, sunglasses, sunblock (non-spray), and a hat. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but avoid hard liquor and glass bottles. All river fishing is catch-and-release only.
Capt. Derek welcomes you aboard a 16' Aluminum fishing with room for 3 passengers. Your captain will provide rods and reels, as well as lures. Live bait is available, but it's good to ask about this so you know if you'll be catching it yourself. Trips with Unwrapped Outdoors are child-friendly. Before coming aboard, you'll need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group.

Half Day Trip - Morning on August 9, 2024 • 3 adultsCaptain Derek, was the best! My family and I go on fishing charters everywhere we go on vacation. Most of those charters are trolling for fish, sitting and waiting while hoping no one gets motion sick. This was the fishing I was looking for on vacation. Going out on a boat with the family and enjoying a morning of fishing together, it was exactly what we needed. Casting, Jigging, and Catching, this charter was fantastic. If you are looking for a great time to relax and have some laughs with the family, this is the way to go. Captain Derek was great. He has so much information when it comes to fishing. We all have fished for most of our lives, but Derek was a great teacher. Methods of fishing, staying in the strike zone longer, and overall conservational awareness; were just some of the topics we covered. Whether you are a novice or experienced angler, he is the guide you want. Derek was professional and family-friendly. His hospitality is second to none. He kept us on the fish and kept conversation going the whole time. There was never a dull moment. We will be back to go out with Derek again.

The professionalism he has is well above that of anyone else. He does everything so you can enjoy pulling in fish one after another. I took my 8-year-old son and his friend, and I was able to enjoy my time on the water while Derek took care of bait and fish and the boys. He treated us like we were family and made sure everything was perfect. I'll admit it was awkward at first—not baiting hooks or taking fish off and putting them in the livewell or cleaning the fish—it made it so much more of an experience for me. You will not regret booking with Unwrapped Outdoors.

Everything I hoped for as far as working with my son, Captain Derek jumped right into it and did so with patience, continous interaction and making it fun for him. As he worked with my son, Captain Derek worked with me on technique. He was able to pin point the areas we needed to be, the adequate depth and the species we could target. Full Day Trip - Morning on June 5, 2023Our company took a day-trip with Red Beard (Derek) and his crew in June. Between our three boats, we caught hundreds of pan fish in a few hours! I had very little experience fishing, but Red Beard brought all the needed equipment, showed us how to cast, baited our hooks and parked the boat in best spots. Afterwards his team gutted our fish and our company made salsa and fish tacos for lunch. It was a great day!

My 5-year-old son and I booked a fishing trip with Derek, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. Derek was fantastic with my son—patient, encouraging, and eager to teach him about fishing. Not only did my son learn a lot, but Derek also helped him catch plenty of fish, which made the trip even more exciting. At one point, I mentioned that my son had seen fishermen using a cast net on TV to catch minnows for bait. Derek went out of his way to make that happen, giving my son the chance to try it himself. It was one of the highlights of the trip and something he’ll remember for a long time. Derek was also very accommodating and flexible. He agreed to move our start time a couple of hours earlier to better fit our family’s schedule, which we greatly appreciated. He arrived on time, was professional throughout the trip, and clearly has a wealth of fishing knowledge. I highly recommend Derek to anyone looking for a great fishing experience, especially families with young children. We had an amazing time and will definitely be booking another trip with him in the future.
