Book your next trip with Capt. Dermin Shivers and find out what you’re missing in Placencia. Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Dermin is prepared to put you on fish.
Fishing around here will often see you targeting Amberjack, Blackfin Tuna, Caribbean Queen Snapper, Blue Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Sailfish, and more with any luck. You’ll target your catch by spinning, trolling, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Planning a family adventure? Kids are absolutely welcome! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board.
Capt. Dermin will bring you aboard a 26’ Pelican fishing boat with space for 6 passengers. It comes with outriggers and all the essentials. Rods, reels, and tackle are provided, along with lures. Live bait is available, but be sure to ask about it so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself.
You’ll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. Mates work hard to make your trip count, so a 10–20% tip is customary.
You will need to buy a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.
Don’t leave home without sunblock (non-spray), a hat, and sunglasses. There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be food and some light snacks available on board.
You could keep reading this, but wouldn’t you rather be fishing with Capt. Dermin Shivers?
