There’s a fish with your name on it in Knysna and The Water Club will help you catch it! Having logged many hours on this system, our fishing guide will tell you all about the local fishery.

These waters hold game fish like Kob, Leerfish (Garrick), Musselcracker, Grunter, Shad, different shark and ray species, and more.  Depending on the species you’re after, you may find yourself spinning, trolling, drifting, bait fishing or something more specialized in this area.

Planning a family adventure? Kids are absolutely welcome! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Snacks are also a good idea so that nobody gets grumpy on an empty belly!

Your adventure begins aboard a 21’ Tait Marine pontoon boat with room for 6 passengers. It has all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. You’ll find rods, reels, tackle and bait waiting for you.

You will require a South African Recreational Fishing Permit which can be acquired online, be sure it bring a copy with you. Be mindful that some species may have special rules or limited seasons. If you don’t know what to expect, ask the captain.

Don’t forget to bring bottled water, sunblock, and sunglasses.

And that’s it! Your fishing trip with The Water Club is just a click away.

Half day fishing in lagoon
4 Hour Trip – Knysna Lagoon (AM) on January 5, 20263 adults
The boat was very decent and comfortable. The trip took place on time. Payment was easy. The boat was not a far distance from the place we met. The host was friendly. You get to take turns with the other 7 persons on board apart from host to share two fishing rods amongst everyone using a lure. There were 2 fishing rods at the back of the boat with bait aiming to catch shark. If we knew that there wasn't enough rods we could have perhaps brought our own rods and bait but with 7 people on board - space would have been an issue even if we brought our rods. Since space on the boat is a factor then booking less people per fishing trip would be more ideal to allow the people on the boat to all have a space to fish as the aim is not a boat ride but instead to fish. There was a live well on the boat but no live bait to fish with. During this half day fishing trip unfortunately we weren't in luck as only a small shark was caught and slipped away. It would be a good idea in the future to speak to others around to first enquire how fishing has been overall in the last few days before booking a trip.
