Depending on the time of year, you might hook into Black Drum, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Tautog, Spadefish, Spanish Mackerel, Bull Shark, Redfish, Gray Triggerfish, Sheepshead, Cobia, Blacktip Shark, and plenty more.

For these species, you’re likely to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle. For the more adventurous among you, there’s bowfishing.

Families making a day of it will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Snacks are permitted onboard — bring your favorites for a boost of energy when needed!

You’ll be casting lines from a 27’ Sportcraft Sportfishing boat that holds up to 6 passengers. It comes with outriggers and all the essentials. There’s a private toilet on board for your convenience.

Capt. Richard has rods and reels for you, as well as lures. Live bait is available, but you should ask the captain whether you’ll be catching it yourself.

There will be a First Mate on board to help your trip run smoothly. Mates work hard to make your trip count, so a 10–20% tip is customary.

Your fishing license for the day is covered by the charter boat, so you can drive right over and come aboard without any hassle! Keep in mind that you may release some fish due to regulations. Simply ask and your captain can tell you more.

It’s recommended to bring a hat, sunglasses, bottled water, and sunblock (non-spray). If you’d like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Great Time Fishing with Richard and Houston!

4 hour shark fishing (4 person max) on July 2, 2025 • 4 adults

First catch and release shark adventure for 3 of the 4 of us this afternoon. The sunset views alone were worth every minute... nothing short of God's handiwork. Each of our teenagers caught about 20 small fish, then each reeled in a 3-4' shark...mom reeled in the “biggest” of the day (3-10'...depending on who you ask)! Just about to pull in for the night and dad caught a shark to close out the day. It was intense and crazy fun. Can't wait to visit Hampton soon to book an early morning or overnight adventure!! 10 out of 10 recommend ReelBlessed Charter with Captain Richard and Firstmate Houston. They kept us safe, and taught us alot more about these beautiful animals than how to reel them in!

We came from Connecticut and found this charter online . It almost didn’t happen due to the weather , however the captain was upfront and said he would take us out in the rain if we wanted to . We took the chance and had an amazing time . I let him know that my daughter really isn’t into fishing so he went out of his way to bring his daughter to accompany her while my son and I fished . We truly appreciated that . Also he found the right spots to catch numerous different variations of fish . This is what we truly wanted to do and it was successful. We felt blessed

No show sharks, no problem

4 hour shark fishing (4 person max) on June 4, 2025 • 4 adults

Great communication and hard work weren't enough to make the sharks appear, but capt Richard and crew worked their butts off trying to get us on the fish. We had to change up the time due to forecast, but we were able to get out and catch a few fish despite the sharks' lack of cooperation. The controllable things were professionally handled--safety and comfort were priority, and the knowledge and efforts put forth were most appreciated. Sometimes the first thing you try works, sometimes not. What makes a difference is how you handle the initial failures and the willingness to alter the approach. Capt Richard blended patience with urgency really well, and the result was a great experience. My son, called Ray Ray after this trip, will be stationed in Norfolk for the next 4 years so we will be back and will book again. Thank you for a great evening! I am sure Ray Ray and his crew will book on their own too!

We had the BEST time with ReelBlessed Fishing Charter! This was my 4-year-old daughter’s very first fishing trip, and Captain Richard and First Mate Houston went above and beyond to make it unforgettable. They were kind, patient, and made sure she felt comfortable the whole time – even playing Disney music to calm her nerves! Not only did she have a blast, but with their help, she also hooked the most fish out of all of us! It was such a joy watching her light up with excitement and confidence thanks to their support and enthusiasm. If you’re looking for a fun, family-friendly charter with a crew that truly cares, this is it. 10/10 recommend – we’ll definitely be back! 🎣💙

Unforgettable Sunset Fishing Trip for the Whole Family!

We had an amazing experience with Reel Blessed! As a family of four with two young boys (ages 6 and 8), we couldn’t have asked for a better fishing charter. Captain Richard and first mate JJ were incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and great with kids. The boat was clean and well-maintained, and the captain was thoughtful about where to anchor, especially since I’m prone to seasickness—he made sure I was comfortable the whole time. We’re novice fishers, but Captain Richard and JJ took the time to teach our boys how to cast, reel, and handle the fish like pros. They felt so proud and confident, and the time just flew by. By the end of the 3-hour sunset charter, the kids had caught six fish and were already asking when we could go again! We also loved the option to connect our own music via Bluetooth—it added such a fun and relaxed vibe to the whole trip. Captain Richard was also mindful of the weather and made great recommendations to keep our experience safe and enjoyable.
