You're likely to fish for Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Skipjack Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Striped Marlin, Sailfish, Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), Kingfish, and more if you cast your line at the right time of year. You'll target your catch by fishing with heavy tackle, trolling, drifting, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Looking to get the whole family outdoors? Kids are absolutely welcome! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Snacks are permitted onboard — bring your favourites to keep their stamina going!
Capt. Christo will bring you aboard a 24' NovaCraft Sportfisher with room for 5 passengers. It comes with outriggers, a fighting chair, and all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. Capt. Christo will supply rods and reels for you, along with lures. Live bait is included, but you should ask the captain whether you'll be catching it yourself.
You will need to buy a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.
Don't forget to bring sunglasses, sunscreen, and bottled water. Alcohol is not allowed.

Christo's boat was unusable and he and Ilze had kindly arranged for Henk du Plessis to take us out instead. It was our first experience of deep sea fishing and whilst we only caught one fish, a couta, we had another fish eaten by sharks and a dorado get off. We also enjoyed seeing three whales, a dolphin, and some very big sharks. Henk, a SA representative fisherman, was fantastic and very patient with our inexperience. He was keen to stay out for longer! He and Christo and Ilze arranged for the fish caught by my son to be cooked for our dinner at Sodwana Bay Lodge. What an awesome meal and the best fish I've had in over 25 years. A great end to a memorable day. 😀
