Los Angeles has a fish with your name on it, so let Strategic Fishing help you catch it! Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Steve knows them forwards and back.
Top targets include Calico Bass, Sand Bass, Scorpionfish, Halibut, California Sheephead, Pacific Barracuda, Bonito, Ray, Crab, and more with any luck. During the trip you might be fly lining bait, casting lures, jigging, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Capt. Steve is happy to have kids aboard, so get 'em offline and onto the water! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Customers are encouraged to bring snacks for a boost of energy when needed!
You'll be casting lines from a 20' Angler 204FX Center console that holds up to 3 passengers. It has everything you need for a productive day on the water. Capt. Steve has rods and reels for you, along with lures. Live bait may be included, depending on your trip type.
Before coming aboard, it will be necessary to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
It's never a bad idea to bring bottled water, sunscreen (non-spray), and sunglasses.

I think we caught 9 different species including some to bring home for fish tacos. Steve was very flexible with our trip and accommodating to my to my son's questions and ideas (wanting to try different lures and bait, seeing a fish jumping a ways out and casting out to try and catch it, etc.). It made him feel like he was more involved in the fishing experience rather than just along for the ride. The boat was great, the gear was perfect and it was a day we'll be talking about for some time. I can't recommend Strategic Fishing enough. What an amazing day of fishing! Thank you.

Inshore Morning Trip - 2 Hour on September 20, 2026 • 2 adultsCaptain Steve was very knowledgeable and attentive during our 2 hour fishing trip. He provided us with clear specific instructions on what to wear, bring and do before our excursion. It was my wife's first time fishing on a boat and she was able to catch her very first fish all own her own. We ended the day catching 9 fish and It was all thanks to Captain Steve for his tips and guidance. So if you're looking for an intimate and fun way to introduce a new fishing angler, I would HIGHLY recommend booking him!

Inshore Morning Trip - 4 Hour on August 29, 2026 • 2 adultsWe had an absolutely amazing time. My son said it was his favorite day fishing ever. After quickly catching our limit of rock fish, Steve took us to catch calico bass and sand bass. In between he spotted a baby humpback jumping out of the water and we went to watch that for a while. Overall we brought home over 20 fish to eat. It was a solid day fishing. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone. He was by far the best captain we have had thus far.
