Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Striped Bass, and more could be biting if you come at the right time of year. Depending on the species you're after, you may find yourself light tackle fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Families making a day of it will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board. You're welcome to bring snacks for a boost of energy when needed!
Your fishing machine for the day is a 20' Nitro Bass Boat with capacity for 3 passengers. It has all the essentials. You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, along with lures.
Before coming aboard, you will need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.
You can't go wrong when you bring sunscreen (non-spray), and sunglasses. Drinks are included, free of charge. Alcohol is not allowed.

Capt Cody was very patient and tried to put us on fish however again weather played big role. 6 Hour Trip on June 19, 2025 • 2 adultsWe broke the boat record catching 104 fish on a six hour charter with just my girlfriend and I. It was her first time fishing and she caught the largest fish (10.5 lb carp). Steckel fishing was the best experience I have ever had in 43 years of fishing! Captain Mike was amazing, the pontoon boar was immaculate, it was shaded so were not burning in the sun, he cleaned the fish afterwards, provided cold waters and ice, and made sure we were having the best time! We are already booking again with them in the future!

We originally booked the bass boat but he was great to accommodate a larger group on his pontoon boat. Fished for striped bass and caught a dozen or so including some catfish in a few hours. We will hopefully book with him again in the future.

6 Hour Trip on March 29, 2025 • 2 adultsBest day we've had in Vegas in the last 2 years. 4 trips overall each lasting a week, and we finally found the real gem of Vegas. Caught a bunch of smallies, biggest fish was probably 4.5 to 5lbs. Cody was awesome, accommodating, and very knowledgeable of the lake and species within. Will definitely go again if we ever make our way back to Las Vegas.

Captain Cody wasn't able to guide but his dad, Captain Mike stepped in. Captain Mike is such a wonderful person! He is super knowledgeable of the lake. The bite was slow in the morning but then again it was a very cold February morning. We were able to land two stripers. The bite got cold. Captain Mike changed the fishing style a few times before he found and netted some shads. After that...It was game over the stripers. We ended up catching 40 stripers in all. Captain Mike is THE MAN! Thank you for a wonderful outing. Would love to book some more trips in the future.
Steckel Fishing is the best fishing guide for Lake Mead. This is a father and son team with many years of experience with top notch boats and equipment. Excellent communication and very responsive. You will most likely get tired from pulling in so many fish. Be sure to bring a cooler and ice for the fish. We will definitely be booking more trips with Cody and his father.
