Ready to go fishing in Matagorda? Capt. Morgan is your ticket!
These waters are known for Redfish, Flounder, Black Drum, Sheepshead, Blacktip Shark, Mangrove Snapper, Jack Crevalle, Alligator Gar, and more – with any luck, it won't take long to hook into some.
On the day of your trip you're likely to drift and bottom fish using light tackle. Capt. Morgan can also take you Flounder gigging.
Capt. Morgan welcomes children aboard, so the whole family can come and unplug for the day! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Feel free to bring your own snacks to keep up those energy levels!
You'll be casting lines from a 23' Bay boat with space for 6 passengers. It comes with all the essentials no fishing machine can run without.
Your captain will provide rods and reels, along with lures. Live bait is available, but you should ask the captain whether you'll be catching it yourself.
You'll may have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. Mates work hard to make your trip count, so a 10–20% tip is customary.
Before coming aboard, you may need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.
It's never a bad idea to bring sunscreen (non-spray), a hat, bottled water, and sunglasses. If you'd like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid glass bottles.

this trip was great and we caught a few and the captian was great.

Spend half a day out on the boat having fun with Captain Morgan and catch some fish while you’re at it. Next time we are down at Surfside we will book another trip. Don’t hesitate!
Can’t say enough about Capt Morgan. He kept us on fish all day. Went home with a mixed bag of Redfish, flounder, whiting, and Black drum.
