If you plan on fishing in Morehead City, look no further than Unreel Sportfishing. Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Mark knows them forwards and back.
Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Blackfin Tuna, Red Snapper, Amberjack, Spanish Mackerel, Vermilion Snapper, and more can be found in these waters if you cast your line at the right time of year. On the day of your trip you're likely to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle.
You'll be welcome aboard a 27' Cape Horn center console with space for 6 passengers. It has outriggers, downriggers, and a full complement of safety gear including EPIRB, PLB, and Sirius XM Weather. All the essentials necessary for a fun, safe, and productive day of fishing. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. Your captain will provide rods, reels, and all the tackle for the day.
There will be a First Mate on board to help your trip run smoothly. It's customary to tip the Mate 20% to show your appreciation.
You will need to purchase a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.
It's never a bad idea to bring sunglasses, sunblock (non-spray), bottled water, and a hat. Dress appropriately for the weather. Even if it is clear there may be some spray so wet weather gear is not a bad idea. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
Your trip with Unreel Sportfishing is just a click away, so why not make it happen?

Mark Nichols is a great and knowledgeable captain. I would hire him from now on since he made my fishing experience a memorable one, thanks Mark.

You are welcome! i enjoyed our trip and hope we can do it again soon!
On time and on fish. Captain Mark went to great lengths to make our trip what we wanted

It was an absolute pleasure fishing with you guys. Thank you!

I hope you get back down soon. I had a great time.
We booked a trip with Unreel to get on some big AJ’s and get a workout. A little bit of a boat ride to get to the prime hunting grounds but on the third stop we found them. Nearly every drop resulted in a solid hookup with 30-50 lb fish. Every fish was caught on vertical jigs. We lost a few jigs but it seemed like Captain Mark had an unlimited supply of jigs on board so a quick retie and we were back in business. A couple were certainly more than that. At the end of this stop we were all soaked in sweat and laying on the deck. Good times.
We settled in at 5:30 am for the ride to the gulf stream. It was a little snotty heading out but we were comfy in the bean bags and the spray curtains kept us dry. Once we got to the stream the weather settled down and it was hot! The crew got the lines out and within minutes the first reel went off! Wahoo in the boat. While we were catching our breath another reel went off! Tuna. We had a great time and had so much fun. 3 Wahoo, 6 Tuna, 1 Mahi. I think we did all right.
I grew up fishing both freshwater and saltwater in North Carolina. Living on the Great Lakes exposed me to a different fishery. Previous to returning home to North Carolina, I spent many years fishing in Southern California for all kinds of Pelagic species. I bring all the things that I have learned from these vastly different fisheries to bear when we fish the North Carolina coastal and offshore waters.
