Alaska Ocean Safaris invites you to experience the stunning waters of Ketchikan.
Depending on the time of year, you might hook into Chinook (King) Salmon, Coho (Silver) Salmon and Pink Salmon. Lingcod, Halibut, and whatever else takes the bait. During the trip you might be light tackle fishing, trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Looking to get the whole family outdoors? Kids are absolutely welcome! Snacks and drinks provided along with kid life vests.
Capt. Chris welcomes you aboard a 31’ Glacier Craft aluminum fishing boat with capacity for 6 passengers. It has all the essentials. You’ll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you along with drinks and snacks.
You will need to buy a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
Fish Processing is handled at the dock we depart from and will start the process after we take photos of our catch so you guys are hands free and ready to continue about your trip knowing your fish is in good care and will be shipped to any desired locations on a date that works with your return home.
You can’t go wrong when you bring sunglasses, and sunscreen (non-spray). There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed.
Alaska Ocean Safaris will make it easy for you to go fishing in Ketchikan. We offer round trip pick up upon request.

Special 4 hour trip for Krissy Gaichas
Outstanding Day with Captain Chris
What a day!!! We started the day early & we're glad we did. Seems like we caught more than the other boats with that hour lead. We caught so many fish, we decided to take the last hour & look for whales. Didn't see any whales but were still able to fish. Captain Chris was informative & worked his ass off to make sure we had fun & enjoyed ourselves. Would definitely recommend him to anyone who asked. Thanks for the great adventure!!!

6hr Salmon & Halibut Combo
Surprisingly great trip in April!
My boyfriend dreamed of fishing in Alaska and we were told by several people on our cruise (some from Alaska) that it was too early for fishing. We booked this fishing trip hoping to catch a few fish, but understanding that it might end up being more of a boat ride. Our captain, Chris, was extremely knowledgeable and experienced. He changed bait, lures and locations and helped us find and catch fish! It was a wonderful day! So happy for all of us his first charter of the season was a success! At the end of the trip, he brought us to a dock where we dropped off our “keepers” to be processed and shipped home. He coordinated our transportation to and from the dock with Jordan (payed separately to Jordan) who practically gave us a short tour along the way and even stopped to allow us to take a few pics. We had time to make it back to the port and do a little shopping before getting back on the cruise ship. If you are considering fishing in Ketchican, I highly recommend booking a trip with Chris and transportation with Jordan!

Caught fish!!
We had an incredible experience with Chris and Alaska Ocean Safari! Captain Chris was friendly, knowledgeable, and took the time to answer all our questions. He brought us to a spot where he believed the salmon were running—and he was right! We were thrilled that each of us caught a salmon. Even with cold temps and rough water, Chris made us feel safe and comfortable the entire time. His expertise and great attitude truly made the trip unforgettable. Highly recommend Chris and Alaska Ocean Safaris for an amazing Alaskan fishing adventure! 🎣🌊

Chris was an excellent captain and guide. Extremely knowledgeable of the area great music. There was a lot of activity. Nobody was ever board. Can’t wait to plan another trip with him.

Would Book Again
We had a great 1/2 day with Capt Chris learning about salmon fishing in Alaska. Very knowledgeable and easy to talk with about Alaska. Coming from Florida, we had a lot questions! The fish were biting slowly but Chris stayed after them until we had some in the boat. Very nice equipment and easy to communicate with Chris pre charter.
