We lucked out and had excellent weather! Our guide, Thomas, was super knowledgeable and personable which made the trip really great. We started out fiahing for halibut. Unfortunately, we could not get them to come in and bite. We caught several other non-keeper fish while trying. The trip was a short 4 hour one, so we called it on the halibut with an hour and a half to go and went to try for some rock fish. Thomas put us right on them and we an absolute blast! We caught several quillbacks and black bass. Overall the family had an unforgettable time. The next time we go, we will for sure do a whole day vs 4 hours.

We had an outstanding 1/2 day charter with Captain Chris! The group included three couples and we caught 15 salmon (1 chum and 14 pink), with an additional 4-5 king salmon that were not long enough to keep. Captain Chris was very responsive ahead of the trip, on request he coordinated our transportation to/from the cruise ship, and made sure we were back at the dock with plenty of time for pictures and shipment of the fish ahead of the 20-minute drive back to the ship. With all the fish caught in probably 3 hours of fishing, Captain Chris kept busy, but was patient with the less experienced female fishermen, and just super enjoyable to be around. The boat was clean and very comfortable for the 6 of us. A PERFECT DAY ON THE WATER!
We went Halibut and Salmon fishing at the begining of August. Before we could get the second reel in the water we already had our first salmon caught. Caught 21 salmon and some rock fish. Lots of acfion all day. Had a bald eagle flying around eating fish we were throwing up in the air. Was amazing to watch. Defintely worth the experience. Thomas our captain was extremelly knowlwdgeable about everything we asked him. Could not of asked for a better excursion.
There were six of us, all cousins and spouses. The weather couldn't be any better. Captain Chris was great. He got us on fish right away. The first fish was on within five minutes of putting out lines. It was a 4 hour trip. We caught 3 silver salmon, 8 pink salmon, one rock bass, and one king salmon that was too small and had to turn back. We lost at least 6 fish including two big kings Chris estimated would weigh around 20 pounds. I would recommend Alaska Ocean Safaris and Captain Chris. He is very knowledgeable and pleasant to be around.

We were visiting for one day on a cruise. I had read some pretty bad reviews of the various fishing excursions offered by the cruiseline and I wasn’t interested in just going for a boat ride. I am glad I found Chris on my own. Communication was easy, he set up direct transport round trip from our cruise terminal and made sure we were back in time for departure. We did a combo halibut / salmon trip. First fish was on before the second line was even in the water and the action continued. Chris was great with the kids. Boat was comfortable even on a rainy day. Caught halibut, cod, rockfish, and king salmon (early july). Process to ship fish home was seamless.
