Alaska Ocean Safaris
Alaska Ocean Safaris invites you to experience the stunning waters of Ketchikan.
Depending on the time of year, you might hook into Chinook (King) Salmon, Coho (Silver) Salmon and Pink Salmon. Lingcod, Halibut, and whatever else takes the bait. During the trip you might be light tackle fishing, trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area like our Guided Spearfishing trips in Ketchikan. Spearfishing in Alaska for Trophy Halibut, lingcod and seabass led by the Captain/DiveMaster.
Looking to get the whole family outdoors? Kids are absolutely welcome! Snacks and drinks provided along with kid life vests.
Capt. Chris welcomes you aboard a 31' Glacier Craft aluminum fishing boat with capacity for 6 passengers. It has all the essentials. You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you along with drinks and snacks.
You will need to buy a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
Fish Processing is handled at the dock we depart from and will start the process after we take photos of our catch so you guys are hands free and ready to continue about your trip knowing your fish is in good care and will be shipped to any desired locations on a date that works with your return home.
You can't go wrong when you bring sunglasses, and sunscreen (non-spray). There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed.
Alaska Ocean Safaris will make it easy for you to go fishing in Ketchikan. We offer round trip pick up upon request.

We started off by telling Captain Chris that we wanted to change things up just a bit as King Salmon season was 2 days out. Decided to do a little bottom fishing. Capt wasn't prepared for such but said we can make it work. We did, he took us out to catch some rockfish to use as bait. We'll, after hitting the day limit of 3 halibut we moved on for a little sport fishing which we caught 2 King Salmon and one was about 32 inches long. ALL THIS WAS DONE ON A 4 HOUR TRIP...Great captain, boat and experience all together. Definitely would recommend Chris. Not to mention, Captain brought in a bald eagle about 10 ft from the boatwith the rockfish scraps. EXTRAS-what a neat little place clover pass is.
Best day in spite of torrential downpour! Captain Cheis texted us niggbt before and asked that we meet an hour warlier due to tide change.. ao we did and got out on the water away feom all boats put lines i. rhe water and immediately hooked up! caught some hig chinooks and many smallwr ines we set free… also caught rock fish, flounder and halibut. most joats back ar marina only caught one fish all day! Was HUGE fun! Thanks Captain Chris!

Overall great experience. 110% would recomend to friends and family. Captain was great, kept us on fish. Equipment was smooth. Trip to fishing grounds was short which meant more time spent fishing.
We limited out with Chris when many boats weren’t even getting nibbles. He was kind, funny, professional, and extremely knowledgeable! Not booking Chris would be the mistake of your trip.
Had an amazing experience on our full day charter. We caught a ton of fish and enjoyed an exciting adventure with a couple whale sitings to add to the fun. Capt Chris kept us all busy, well fed with plenty of snacks and beverages along with some great music. Capt Chris’ team processed and boxed all our fish so getting our fish home was a breeze. This trip was awesome. Not a single detail missed. Can’t wait till this summer for another trip.
Thank you for the memories, looking forward to next time!
