Emerald Sea Adventures
Just had a cancellation calendar is open 1st to 4th July. The weather is good. The fish are biting.
There's a fish with your name on it in Coal Harbour or on the Port Hardy side and Emerald Sea Adventures will help you catch it! Your guide for the day is Captain Scott, offering years of professional experience.
Halibut, Salmon, Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon, Pink Salmon, Rockfish, and more inhabit these waters if you come at the right time of year. You can expect to do some fishing with heavy tackle, trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
You'll be casting lines from a 22' KingFisher sportfishing vessel with space for 3 passengers. It has downriggers, all the essentials. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. Rods, reels, and tackle are included, along with lures and bait.
Before coming aboard, you'll need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.
Some essentials to bring are sunblock (non-spray), a hat and sunglasses. If you'd like to bring other drinks, just ask. New for the 2026 season, we going to have to start charging a fuel surcharge of $100.00 on a full day charter and $50.00 for a half day charter if fuel goes over $2.00 a litre.

My wife and I, both first timers to salmon and ling cod fishing, had an amazing time with Captain Scott. He was patient, knowledgeable, friendly and treated us very well. We really appreciated that he designed the excursion around what we wanted and our experience. We learnt a ton! The fishing was as advertised.
I really enjoyed our time on the water, it makes for a great day when all the elements cooperate. Fishing with those who enjoy what the ocean has to offer is one of the reason I do this. Fish in the boat is the reward. Thank you for your review, Hope we are able to do this again until then wishing you tight lines in your future endeavours.

My husband and I recently spent 2 days fishing aboard Rum's Hot with Captain Scott of Emerald Sea Adventures. It was definitely an adventure!! Scott managed our expectations right away when he let us know that we were going out at the end of the season so he wasn't too sure what we would catch but WOW were we impressed with the amount and quality of fish we caught! There was everything - Coho & Spring Salmon, Halibut, Ling Cod, Rockfish…. He knew EXACTLY where to go to get what we wanted. We also saw TONS of wildlife out on the waters - Orcas, Porpoises, Minc & Humpback Whales, Sea Otters & Sea Lions…. That alone was an exceptional experience. Scott was a very safe and knowledgeable charter guide. We knew we were in good hands! The snacks and drinks were appreciated. And for all of the female anglers out there - the onboard toilet was a real blessing!! We left with a massive cooler chock full of enough fish to last us a very long time - but hopefully not too long because we really look forward to another trip us Island to head out onto the waters with Scott again.
Thank you, was a pleasure fishing with both of you. Mother Nature was definitely on your side both days. The water conditions were the best it have had all season for that area. The morning fog was a bit of a nuisance but still workable. Stay safe and tight lines in the future.

We went out with captain Scott and he did not disappoint. Awesome trip both times. We caught 95 lbs of salmon, lingcod, Halibut and rockfish on the first day. Second day we out and put another 62 lbs in the boat. Didn't have to clean fish as Scott hooked us up with a fish packaging house in town. Only negative is we caught so much fish is that I had to buy a portable freezer to bring the fish home. If you are fishing Vancouver island, don't waste your time with the limited fishing limits and restrictions on the inside pass. Call Scott at Port Hardy and get out to area 111 and catch big fish. Highly recommended from a lifetime fisherman who catches big fish. We are going back 6 weeks early in 2026 and will fish with Scott 3 times. Might have to get a bigger freezer. Scott is the best guide that I have been out with on Vancouver island
It was a pleasure meeting and fishing with You and Karen. looking forward to our next adventure. Until then keep you tip up and tight lines.
WOW…what an adventure. We had three incredible days on the water with Captain Scott. He had us on fish as soon as we got to the area we were going to be fishing. His advice on ways to fish, never disappointed. He quite happily shared advice and his knowledge of the local waters and where to fish for different species. Types of lures that were working and catching fish were in his tackle and readily accessible. Now….on to the fish…. We caught and retained Coho, Chinook/Spring, Pink in the Salmon species. We released numerous fish as well. We caught and retained Black Sea Bass and Copper rock fish. We also caught Ling Cod and Halibut. Then came the eye catching scenery and wildlife. Countless Sea Otters, Seals, Sea Lions, Porpoises, Dolphins and numerous species of Whales that put on a real show for us. Scott's knowledge and passion for this environment is an absolute breath of fresh air. His boat and equipment are second to none and all in immaculate condition. His boat is spotlessly clean and ready to go as you arrive. Our time with Scott will always be remembered and cherished. Thanks Scott. Fair winds and following seas. I hope to see you again next year.
Thank you Keith, was a pleasure meeting and fishing with you and Bill. Love the bantering. When are we going to do this again. The weather behaved itself for the best part, and so did the fish. A little hunting and poking but we found them and when we did they did not disappoint. Hope we can do this again and until then wishing you tight lines in the future.
We have been fishing with Scott for 3 days and had a fab time. The fishing, the weather and our guide couldn't have been any better. After coming to Port Hardy for many years we really appreciated Scott's kind and calm personality, his experience and guidance and especially how he treated the catch and how he maintains his boat. Scott's little treats and tips, the whales, the otters, the sea lions and the beautiful scenery came on top. We really enjoyed this trip and are looking forward to coming back and hopefully fish with Scott again. Again a big thank you! René & Karin
