Emerald Sea Adventures
Still a few openings for the month of Sept. DFO has announced an in season change to the halibut regulations. As of Sept 1st until the close of this years season the daily limit for Halibut has changed from one fish max size 112 cm to 2 fish max size of 112 each the possession limit remains the same one day catch two fish and within the 10 allowed for the year. The salmon might be slowing down but bottom fish are still biting.
There's a fish with your name on it in Coal Harbour or on the Port Hardy side and Emerald Sea Adventures will help you catch it! Your guide for the day is Captain Scott, offering years of professional experience.
Halibut, Salmon, Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon, Pink Salmon, Rockfish, and more inhabit these waters if you come at the right time of year. You can expect to do some fishing with heavy tackle, trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
You'll be casting lines from a 22' KingFisher sportfishing vessel with space for 3 passengers. It has downriggers, all the essentials. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. Rods, reels, and tackle are included, along with lures and bait.
Before coming aboard, you'll need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.
Some essentials to bring are sunblock (non-spray), a hat and sunglasses. If you'd like to bring other drinks, just ask. New for the 2026 season, we going to have to start charging a fuel surcharge of $100.00 on a full day charter and $50.00 for a half day charter if fuel goes over $2.00 a litre.

We just wrapped up an incredible 3-day fishing charter out of Port Hardy with Scott from Emerald Sea Adventures, and I can't recommend him enough. His boat and fishing equipment are top-tier, and his knowledge of the local waters is second to none. We completely slaughtered the bottom fish (especially the lingcod) and pulled in some fantastic salmon and halibut! To top it all off, Scott spotted whales and dolphins for us along the way. He’s super easygoing, warm, and great company on the water. Thank you for an unforgettable trip, Scott!

A good day fishing the Dragons den. It was a pleasure meeting and fishing with both of you. We found some very nice bottom fish. until we meet again wish you tigth lines for your future.
Thanks so much, Scott! We had an awesome time with Emerald Sea Adventures. You were incredibly knowledgeable and made the whole experience so enjoyable. We really appreciate you getting us onto some great lingcod and coho. It was an amazing day!

Thank you it always a joy fishing with first timers, just the excitement , the looks on your faces when your dad pulled up his first dragon was enough to make my day. The father daughter team work on the rod was a moment, to. good luck and tigth lines in your future .

Scott was a excellent fishing guide. He new where to go and how to catch each species we were targeting. We caught lots of salmon, lingcod and halibut!

It was a pleasure meeting and fishing with both of you. I wish you the best and hope we get to do this again. Until then wish you fair seas and tight lines.

My wife and I, both first timers to salmon and ling cod fishing, had an amazing time with Captain Scott. He was patient, knowledgeable, friendly and treated us very well. We really appreciated that he designed the excursion around what we wanted and our experience. We learnt a ton! The fishing was as advertised.

I really enjoyed our time on the water, it makes for a great day when all the elements cooperate. Fishing with those who enjoy what the ocean has to offer is one of the reason I do this. Fish in the boat is the reward. Thank you for your review, Hope we are able to do this again until then wishing you tight lines in your future endeavours.
