Around here the fishing is popular for Great Barracuda, Mutton Snapper, Bonito, Mahi Mahi, Amberjack, White Marlin, Horse-eye Jack, Wahoo, Gray Triggerfish, Blackfin Tuna, Black Grouper, and more if you come at the right time of year. On these trips, it's common to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle.

Capt. Mauro believes in teaching kids to fish while they're young, so feel free to make a family day out of it! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Customers are encouraged to bring snacks so that nobody gets grumpy on an empty belly!

Capt. Mauro will bring you aboard the Marlin Monroe, a 30' Luhrs Express sportfishing boat with room for 6 passengers. It comes with outriggers, downriggers, a fighting chair, everything you need for a productive day on the water. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. Your captain will provide rods and reels, as well as lures. Live bait is included, but you should ask the captain whether you'll be catching it yourself.

Trips are run with the help of a First Mate. Mates often work for tips and it's customary to offer them a 10–20% tip.

Before coming aboard, you will need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.

Don't leave home without sunglasses, and sunblock (non-spray). Drinks will be available for you. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Best Day Ever!

6 Hour Trip on January 23, 2026 • 5 adults

Five friends charted the Marlin Monroe for a 6 hour trip. Communication was awesome. We requested to specifically target barracuda due to the time of year. Captain Mauro and mate Juan were fantastic. We hooked our first fish just minutes after setting the baits. Shortly into the trip we had a huge barracuda flopping on the deck. One of the giant hooks went completely in Jaun's forearm, and was completely impaled. We had to force the hook all the way through and get the barb cut to remove the hook. We thought our trip should be over and head to the hospital, but Jaun said no. The captain bandaged him up and set him driving the boat. Being a group of cops and firefighters, we've seen a lot of bad stuff. Juan might be the toughest kid I've ever met. He toughed it out for 4 more hours and even filleted fish at the end. We ended up with 20 barracuda! I've been on a lot of charters and this was top notch. The Marlin Monroe is 32' and has a broad beam. There was plenty of room, a fighting chair, and great rods and reels. Very comfortable. I'd book this boat and crew again in a heartbeat.

Great day with captain Mauro and crew

6 Hour Trip on April 24, 2026 • 2 adults

We had an awesome trip! My wife and I caught a ton of fish in 6 hours. Mauro and his crew worked so hard to get us on fish. We trolled and bottom fished. Would definitely go back. Boat was nice, clean, and comfortable and they always made sure we had a cerveza, water, or soft drink in hand. Will defintiely fish with them again next time.

Two sailfish, fantastic day!

8 Hour Trip on January 22, 2026 • 6 adults

Mauro, Juan, and Jorge worked tirelessly to give us the best shot at catching sailfish. it's early season, but they got us into them. We brought 2 in, a good handful of bonitos, a spanish mackerel, and capped the day with a bunch of barracudas. We had a great time, captain and crew were friendly and knowledgeable. The day couldn't have been better. Gracias Mauro, Juan, y Jorge. Esperamos poder salir a pescar con ustedes de nuevo!

8 Hour Trip on July 5, 2025 • 2 adults • 2 children

Great crew who went above and beyond for my family and I. My kids are 11 and 13 and reeled them in as well on the fighting chair. We caught tons of Bonita, sail fish, and several barracuda with the biggest being 54". Great trip and would highly recommend for everyone. Also, we saw small number of reviews and loved the boat prior to booking. Glad we didn't let that discourage us, as we have zero regrets of using nu jay and the marlin Monroe crew!! Great job mi amigos!!

👍🏻👍🏻😎 Afternoon trip. Captain Mauro and crew Juan & Jorge worked their tails off. Never stopped. They had us on 3 sailfish in first half hour. Landed a double. I've been on many deep sea charters and highly recommend the Marlin Monroe!
