Mario's Fishing Mission invites you to experience the stunning waters of Rockport. With Captain Mario at the helm, you're in knowledgeable and experienced hands to explore the waters of Copano Bay.
Flounder, Speckled Trout, Black Drum, Redfish, and more inhabit these waters if you come at the right time of year. For these species, you're likely to troll using light tackle.
Young ones are welcome, so feel free to make a family day out of it! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. And, you can't go wrong with snacks so that nobody gets cranky on an empty belly!
You'll be casting lines from a 20' Shoalwater bay boat with room for 3 passengers. It has all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, as well as lures. Live bait is on offer, but you should ask the captain whether you'll be catching it yourself.
You will need to supply fishing license for the day , so all you have to do is show up ready for a good time! Be mindful that some species may have special rules or limited seasons. Simply ask and your captain can tell you more.
Don't forget to bring sunscreen (non-spray), bottled water, and sunglasses. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
Now and then the fish might get away, but a day on the water never should. So make it happen, with Mario's Fishing Mission!

Epic Fishing Trip
Half Day Trip – Wading on January 18, 2026
We had an incredible wade fishing trip with Captain Mario. We caught 5 large redfish and it was my wife’s first time fishing in the ocean for large fish. She was nervous about getting in the water and Mario handled it perfectly. He made her feel completely comfortable and even let her fish from the boat while I waded. She had an absolute blast.
Mario was extremely knowledgeable, patient and truly cared about our experience. It was cold and he came prepared with hand warmers for both of us. I forgot my sunglasses and he had an extra pair for me. He also gave my wife a face mask and a warm coat to make sure she stayed comfortable.
He put us on fish and went above and beyond in every way. We had a great time and will definitely be back to book another trip with him. Highly recommend Captain Mario.

Very rough water with slow season but was still AMAZING

Took my 12 yr old son for an afternoon 5 hour trip. This was his first ever salt water fishing trip. Captain Mario was extremely kind and was all about not only trying to get us to the fish but teaching my son about everything salt water! Where the fish are, how to tie knots, how to cast the right way, how to be patient! The water was rough and apparently it just isn’t a good fishing season but he told us this up front, promised to get us in a good spot and definitely delivered. We will be using Captain Mario again anytime we come to Rockport!

Was looking for a last minute trip for my two boys (15 & 14). Captain Mario was attentive to them, taught them the whole day, and best of all, put us on fish. Even when the other boats around us were getting skunked, we were pulling up keepers. Even had a triple hook up. A lot to be said for a lifetime of experience in these waters. The boys had a blast. Would recommend Mario’s Fishing Mission to anyone.
