There's a fish with your name on it in Kailua-Kona and Reel Escapes Hawaii will help you catch it!

Reel Escapes Hawaii is excited to add to its fleet of boats with a new 40' Cabo called A'u Nui. Fish with comfort and the amenities of a large comfortable air conditioned salon, sectional couch, 2 bathrooms, multiple coolers and a panoramic sitting area on the flybridge with the captain.

Kona has the unique distinction of being one of the few places in the world that has a caught over a 1,000 lbs Blue Marlin in each month of the year, meaning you have the opportunity to land a massive trophy fish. We are also home to other species and the captain and crew are always willing to accommodate any special request you may have to target a particular species.

Blue Marlin, Ono (Wahoo), Mahi Mahi, Yellowfin Tuna, Striped Marlin, Shortbill Spearfish, and more are in the cards if you come at the right time of year.

All experience levels are welcome as we go through a complete safety briefing and tutorial regarding how the fish will bite, and how to properly use a fighting chair. Families are always welcome, and we love sharing fishing experience's with children. For some young anglers it can be a long day on a boat, so parents are encouraged to keep that in mind or please call us with any questions. If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, there's one on board. On these trips, you can expect to troll using light or heavy tackle.

A First Mate will be there to make sure everything is running smoothly. Mates often work for tips and it's customary to offer them a 20% tip. You can't go wrong when you bring sunglasses, a hat, and sunscreen (non-spray). Bottled water and light snacks are included. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, so long as you avoid hard liquor and glass bottles.

Now, come aboard with Reel Escapes Hawaii and get hooked!

First Blue Marlin and Shortbill Spearfish
6 Hour Trip — Fishing Escape on May 30, 20263 adults1 child
4 of us hit the water on Saturday at 6:30 AM for a 6-hour trip. My best friend’s son caught his first ocean fish a Shortbill Spearfish. The 2nd up was his dad and he caught his first Blue Marlin (roughly 200 lbs). 3rd up was my wife, she battled 2 shark bits but came up dry. I was the 4th at bat and enjoyed watching the other 3 have a good time. The weather was perfect and Captain Dan and first mate Logan made it an even better experience. Thank you again for a great day on the water! David, Kristin, Jon, Joshua

Great Crew!
6 Hour Trip — Fishing Escape - 12:00 PM on June 28, 20256 adults
The owner, Brent, was great. He reached out before we left to be sure we were ready. We had an outstanding day with Rooster and Captain Dan. These guys were on time and ready to go when we arrived, and they wanted to catch Blue marlin as much as we did - if not more. Very few boats reported catching fish, so after 5 hours without any bites, we decided to head back to the marina, and just as we were about to go in, we caught a 320lb blue marlin. It was amazing!!! To make things even better, Rooster had a camera with a telephoto lens, so he got great shots of the fish jumping out of the water.

Best Fishing Charter Ever
Fishing Charter on July 13, 20251 adult
You could not ask for a better fishing charter. The captain and crew are extremely knowledgable and capable. If there are fish out there to be caught, Reel Escapes will put you on them. My son caught a huge spearfish. The crew expertly brought it into the boat and it made for an incredible memory for my son. In addition, the boat was new, immaculately clean, comfortable, and safe. The captain and his crew took safety very seriously. Again you couldn't ask for a better charter and we can't wait to go back and catch some more fish!

Great day on the water
8 Hour Trip — Fishing Escape on January 21, 20265 adults
Dan and Logan were very welcoming guides. They answered many randoms questions and gave us lots of good ideas for other things to do on the island. The boat was very nice and clean as well. We got to see a few whales and tuna. We didn’t catch anything on our trip but Dan and Logan definitely tried their best and taught us a lot about Hawaii sport fishing.

Aloha Keith, We’re so glad to hear you felt welcomed by Dan and Logan and enjoyed spending the day learning more about Hawaiʻi sport fishing. Even when the fish don’t fully cooperate, seeing whales and tuna out on the water is always a special bonus, and we’re happy you still had a great time. Thank you as well for the kind words about the boat and crew. Dan and Logan take a lot of pride in keeping things professional, informative, and fun, and it’s great to hear that came through. We’d love to have you back out with us again for another shot at the fish next time you’re in Kona. If there is ever anything we can do for you, please never hesitate to reach out and we will help in any way we can. With aloha, Captain Brent

Slow fish day, but great experience
6 Hour Trip — Fishing Escape - 12:00 PM on February 19, 20262 adults3 children
Captain Dan and Logan were friendly and professional. They were great with the kids, even took the boat into the shallower water to let them reel in little blue stripe snapper and goat fish for awhile. We didn't catch anything, trolling for the bigger game fish, but I have full confidence Captain Dan and Logan did their best regardless!

Mahalo Aaron, Dan and Logan will really appreciate the kind words. They do a great job making sure everyone — especially the kids — has a fun and memorable time on the water. Sometimes when the big game fish make us work for it, it’s nice to mix things up and let the kids bend a rod on some of the smaller reef fish. We’re glad you still had a great experience, and we truly appreciate your confidence in the crew. Hopefully next time we’ll add a little more bend in the rods for the big ones too!
