Reel Escapes Hawaii is excited to add to its fleet of boats with a new 40' Cabo called A'u Nui. Fish with comfort and the amenities of a large comfortable salon, sectional couch, 2 bathrooms, multiple coolers and a panoramic sitting area on the flybridge with the captain.
Kona has the unique distinction of being one of the few places in the world that has a caught over a 1,000 lbs Blue Marlin in each month of the year, meaning you have the opportunity to land a massive trophy fish. We are also home to other species and the captain and crew are always willing to accommodate any special request you may have to target a particular species.
Blue Marlin, Ono (Wahoo), Mahi Mahi, Yellowfin Tuna, Striped Marlin, Shortbill Spearfish, and more are in the cards if you come at the right time of year.
All experience levels are welcome as we go through a complete safety briefing and tutorial regarding how the fish will bite, and how to properly use a fighting chair. Families are always welcome, and we love sharing fishing experience's with children. For some young anglers it can be a long day on a boat, so parents are encouraged to keep that in mind or please call us with any questions. If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, there's one on board. On these trips, you can expect to troll using light or heavy tackle.
A First Mate will be there to make sure everything is running smoothly. Mates often work for tips and it's customary to offer them a 20% tip. You can't go wrong when you bring sunglasses, a hat, and sunscreen (non-spray). Bottled water and light snacks are included. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, so long as you avoid hard liquor and glass bottles.

Fishing Charter
Best Fishing Charter Ever
You could not ask for a better fishing charter. The captain and crew are extremely knowledgable and capable. If there are fish out there to be caught, Reel Escapes will put you on them. My son caught a huge spearfish. The crew expertly brought it into the boat and it made for an incredible memory for my son. In addition, the boat was new, immaculately clean, comfortable, and safe. The captain and his crew took safety very seriously. Again you couldn't ask for a better charter and we can't wait to go back and catch some more fish!

6 Hour Trip – Fishing Escape (PM)
Great Crew!
The owner, Brent, was great. He reached out before we left to be sure we were ready. We had an outstanding day with Rooster and Captain Dan. These guys were on time and ready to go when we arrived, and they wanted to catch Blue marlin as much as we did - if not more. Very few boats reported catching fish, so after 5 hours without any bites, we decided to head back to the marina, and just as we were about to go in, we caught a 320lb blue marlin. It was amazing!!! To make things even better, Rooster had a camera with a telephoto lens, so he got great shots of the fish jumping out of the water.

Big Game Fishing in Kona’s Deep Blue Water
We headed out into the deep waters off Kona’s coast, and before long, we had a strike and it was a good one. After a solid fight, we landed a gorgeous Ono (wahoo)! We also got to encounter wildlife such as pilot whales ,hawaiian spinner dolphins, and even a iwa bird. The crew was just as excited as we were and helped us every step of the way. We had Captain Dan and Captain Corey who provided excellent customer service they also cleaned and filleted the fish once we got back and we even got tips on how to cook it! The boat was clean, well-maintained, and equipped with everything we needed for a successful day of fishing This is not my first trip with Reel Escapes and it will definitely not be my last. Whether you’re an experienced angler or just out for fun, I highly recommend this charter if you’re in Kailua Kona.

6 Hour Trip – Fishing Escape (AM)
Trip of a lifetime
We had an amazing time with Reel Escapes, Hawaii. The staff we super friendly and the boat was so nice! We started the day with a safety briefing and learned what we would be fishing for. What was really remarkable was that you start fishing almost immediately after you leave the harbour. I had no idea we would be so close to shore. The 1st mate took time to show us all the equipment, what would happen when a fish hit the line and then what our job would be as anglers. It took a little time but we got hooked up to a blue marlin!! So much excitement, it is hard to actually describe the energy when you hook up to such a big fish. The captain and 1st mate again were so helpful and we got the fish to the side of the boat for photos and videos. We ended up catching two more fish but I forgot what they were called. They filleted it for us though and we were able to take it to a local restaurant for an awesome meal!! I loved the Big Island before but this experience makes us want to come back to Kona over and over again. This charter was the highlight of our vacation and we can’t wait to do it again. If you are on the fence, get off it and book!! Thank you Reel Escapes, the family loved the entire time!!!

A morning of marlin!
What an unforgettable adventure! We booked a fishing charter with Reel Escapes aboard the A'u Nui, and from start to finish, it was an amazing experience. The staff was incredibly helpful and took the time to answer all of our questions, making the booking process smooth and easy. The boat was spacious, extremely clean, and honestly, I wish it was mine! It made the entire day feel even more comfortable and enjoyable. We kicked off the trip with a spectacular sighting of humpback whales just outside the harbor, setting the tone for an epic day ahead. Throughout the day, we were treated to playful dolphins and even encountered a pod of pilot whales right next to the boat! The highlight? Catching a blue marlin—I’ve been dreaming of that moment my whole life! The crew was incredibly supportive and guided us through every step of reeling it in, making the seemingly daunting task easy! We also hooked a mahi mahi, which we brought to a local restaurant to cook it up for a delicious dinner. This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I can’t wait for our next trip to Kona!
