Ocean Blue Kona offers premier inshore and bottom fishing charter in Kona's beautiful waters captained by either the experienced Captain Kevin or Captain Kihe.
We are happy to guarantee someone in your party will catch at least one fish (most likely more), and if not, we will reschedule or refund!!
Guests can look forward to catching species such as (Taʻape) Yellow Spot (Papio), Hawaiian Gray Snapper (Uku), Goat Fish (Moano Kea), Weke Nono, Kumu, Jacks, Snappers and Wrasses. Fishing is conducted using top-of-the-line Penn Battle 3 spin jig rod and reel combos, with 50-pound braided spectra line and 30-pound fluorocarbon leaders, each fitted with two size 14 BKN hooks and an 8 oz weight.
Our 27' Catamaran comfortably hosts up to 6 passengers and is fully equipped with all necessary amenities, including a toilet. The boat is child-friendly, with appropriately sized life vests available to ensure safety for all ages.
We provide snacks and drinks to help keep energy levels high throughout the adventure. Feel free to bring any extra snacks and drinks you would like, and we can keep them on ice for you. Adult beverages are welcome.
All out-of-state anglers are required to purchase a fishing license online prior to the trip. All catchable and edible fish can be kept; we will scale, gut, or fillet your fish to ensure it's ready to cook. We're also eager to share some of our favorite recipes if you'd like to cook your catch.
If you don't have a kitchen, then take your fish to Holualoa Garden & Kitchen. This restaurant is amazing! It's in a little quaint town 10 minutes above Kona town. It feels like what you would picture Hawaii to be, with rainy, beautiful gardens nestled in the coffee plantations. Remember to call or check their website to check hours and plan when to go enjoy your fresh catch, as you may want a reservation.

Wow...what a wonderful crew with Captain Kihe & Caleigh! This was a first time for our blended crew to fish together and it did not disappoint! The boat was stocked with drinks, snacks, great music during the ride out. Kihe was the perfect temperament to manage a group of teens, young adults, and their parents! We had 4 rods going at a time and both Kihe and Caleigh were quick to rebait lines and keep the fish biting! The best part, we caught around 20 fish and brough home enough for three meals to feed 6 people! The sashimi recommendation was a standout! Ocean Blue knows their fish. I cannot recommend this charter enough. It was truly the highlight of our trip.

Four hour afternoon trip bottom fishing with captain Kihe and deckhand Tracey. My wife and I were treated to an amazing first time bottom fishing trip. Got to the the Grounds and first cast captain Kihe put me on the bite. This boat was amazing. Nonstop action. We caught some nice trivali, surgeon fish, uku, and several other fish. Captain Kihe spotted a big bird pile and asked if we wanted to chase Ahi, oh yeah buddy. They were there and jumping just didn’t hook up. We went back to the deep grounds and hooked some huge uku. 10 out of 10 I highly recommend this boat and crew. My wife and I had the most memorable experience.

My family and I were very lucky to have Captain Kevin take us out for a 4 hour fishing charter out of Kona. Kevin and crew have something very special going. We had constant action and caught several species. The crew is very personable, educational, and very good with kids. Captain Kevin is a class act and fun to hang out with. The boat and gear are great as well, with plenty of shade. Absolutely recommend for anyone looking to get out on the water in Kona. Best fishing charter we’ve ever had.

Great trip! We pinged so many anglers before booking to make sure we found someone that would put us on fish. Most anglers are looking for trophies. We just wanted fish for dinner! Boat was comfortable - lots of shade. Captain Kihe and Tracy were amazing hosts working with us to ensure we landed fish. Communication lead g up to and after our trip was amazing. Definitely recommended for those looking to catch!

We had so much fun on our first trip with the crew of Ocean Blue that we had to book a second a year later. VERY family friendly, caught a lot of fish, enjoyed the wealth of knowledge that the captains had about everything fish and ocean. The communication leading up to the trip was awesome! Kevin personally called us to check in prior to our trip and all of our fishing requests were fulfilled. We will book a third trip next time we are in Kona!
