Depending on the season, you might hook into Striped Bass, Bluefish, Bonito, Scup, Black Seabass, Fluke, Tautog, Bluefin Tuna, Sharks and whatever else takes the bait. During the trip you might be trolling, drifting, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Thinking of bringing the whole family? Kids are absolutely welcome! The Captain has child sized life jackets, and can tailor the trip to getting the younger kids hooked up on age appropriate fish.
Your trip begins aboard a 21' Seaswirl walkaround with room for up to 4 passengers. It comes with all the essentials and gear needed to successfully land your targeted species. Your captain will provide quality rods, reels, and bait for you.
Your fishing license for the day is covered by the charter boat, so all you have to do is look forward to your trip! Be mindful that some species may have special rules or limited seasons. Simply ask and your captain can tell you more.
A few items to bring include sunblock (non-spray), sunglasses, and a jacket for cool mornings. There are two ice boxes built into the boat for your use. A cooler in your car is a good idea if you plan to harvest your catch. Bottled water, chips, and snacks are onboard, but you are welcome to bring other drinks. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, so long as you avoid glass bottles.

If you are looking for a top-tier fishing experience in Rhode Island, look no further than Captain Mike at MV Charters. We recently headed out into the bay with him to target tautog (aka blackfish) and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. We knew the weather would be less than ideal, and Captain Mike was more than willing to reschedule if we wanted, but my buddies and I chose to go anyway. His expertise was obvious. He knew exactly which spots would produce, and he put us on the meat almost immediately. He clearly has a genuine passion for the sport and is incredibly knowledgeable about everything that swims. When the clock started winding down, he actually went past our allotted time slot just to make sure we had every possible opportunity to land more fish. Captain Mike is a professional who truly cares about his clients' experience. We will for sure book future trips with him. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a productive, high-energy day on the water!
We were targeting stripers and sharks. well he had us all over both just sharks were super hungry and eating all the stripers we had on. caught 6 sharks all about 150#-200#. Had a blast catching live bait (Mackerel). also when day was done he showed us cooked up some mackerel for lunch. Will definitely book and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I took 20yr old out and his buddy. Best experience , extremely knowledgeable about surroundings of your way out fishing grounds. 5 stars isn’t enough I would give it 10 stars .
This trip brought us from Delaware to fish R.I. waters. Captain Mike was an excellent captain. His energy was perfect for us. He was very gracious and professional and I actually caught the largest stripper I ever landed the same was true for my buddy . I will absolutely be sailing with him again in the near future. He kept me informed from start to completion of our booking… Highly recommended!
Captain Mike was awesome.. great guy, enthusiastic, fun to be out on the water with… He put us on fish all day and we had an absolute blast! I plan on booking with Mike again and would recommend him for any group looking to go out, catch a ton of fish and have a great day on the water.
We had an epic experience! Captain was high energy, very knowledgeable and had professional boating skills. He went above and beyond for our experience! We caught several species of fish with different methods and he even cleaned them for us.
