Redfish Lake Guide Service offers light tackle fishing charters in the east and west Matagorda Bay. Owned and operated by local guide Captain Mark Wakefield, this service will fulfill all your inshore and nearshore fishing desires.
Captain Mark fishes aboard a 24' Tran Cat that was locally built specifically for the area's waters. Powered by a 300 HP Suzuki engine, the boat provides a dry, smooth ride and will take you to the fish fast. Featuring a range of navigational electronics, a live bait tank, and an ice-box for your drinks, the vessel has everything you need for a fun day of fishing.
During your trip, you will be fishing for Redfish, Trout, and Flounder, with the possibility of catching a tasty Tripletail if you're lucky. Captain Mark offers drift fishing trips suitable for all experience levels. He will provide all the necessary equipment, including live bait and topwater lures, as well as other artificial bait.
The captain will also gladly clean and fillet your hard-fought catch for you to take home after the trip. If you don't already possess one, please make sure to purchase a valid Texas fishing license with a saltwater stamp before your trip.
If you're having second thoughts about bringing your little ones, rest assured that they're more than welcome to join in the fun. There are no age limits and special life jackets for them will be covered by the charter. All aboard!

If you are out to catch slot reds, we'll we only caught two. Instead Captain Mark helped us land at least 15 oversized reds. We all used our redfish tags before 7:30 am. I have never fought that many BIG redfish in one day. What a great day on the water. I appreciate that he was always helpful to my family. He is very attentive and knowledgeable. He taught me a couple of techniques that really proved usefull. I highly recommend him.

Captain Mark is very experienced. We caught multiple fish the day after the tropical storm went through, including some large redfish, flounder and black drum. Matagorda Bay is a little bit of heaven on earth. I highly recommend Captain Mark.

it was a tough day. we caught a lot of fish but unfortunately most were short. Mark worked hard all day trying to find bigger fish. You cant make them bite. We’ll be going again.
