Paseos Albatros Tulum 

I selected this charter based off the reviews, and boy were they right! Nelson and his crew were absolutely incredible! From the moment we made eye contact on the beach, Nelson provided a happy, positive, and welcoming vibe! As we all know, positive energy is crucial when fishing! We started the trip by posting up in front of an old ruin and receiving a short history lesson about the mayan/mexican culture. After that, we headed out to land some fish. Within minutes, FISH ON!!! My 12 year old son reeled in a spanish mackeral! Roughly 15 minutes later, we were cruising along a trail of kelp/seaweed to find a school of fish frolicking in the kelp. Then BAM, FISH ON!! My son then reeled in a nice size Silver Jack. We caught three fish the first hour of our six hour trip. Over the course of next few hours we caught roughly 6 or 7 nice size barracuda. Around hour four, of trolling and watching Nelson and crew work incredibly hard, while singing and dancing to local tunes, I mentioned to Nelson fhat this is our 9th time chartering a boat and we have never caught a Mahi! Nelson said to me, “Well then, LETS GO GET EM!’ Thankfully the waters were calm, and we headed further out. Nelson said, “this is where they like to hang out.” Were now on hour five and my son and I watching time tick away. Nelson and crew never gave up, kept the postive energy flowing, working imcredibly hard shaking the lines and changimg the baits. Then…..BOOM!!! FISH ON!! ITS A MAHI!!! I hopped in the chair and battled this fish for 25 minutes! I was overly excited and Nelson calmly told me, relax, we have nothing but time!! I slowed down, pulled the rod up, and watched it bend. It was surreal, being out in the carribean, calm waters, slowly battling this beautiful fish! We won the battle! We headed back to land, Mahi filleted, and headed to a local restauraunt with Nelson and crew where we all ate some butter garlic mahi and ceviche! Thank you Nelson and Crew! That was a trip my son and I will never forget!

captain nelson and first mate carlos made my trip to tulum a great time! i went out for a 6 hour trip and we went trolling. Had a sailfish teasing with a bait early on, only ended up getting a mahi and a few barracuda. I told them i had nothing going on for the rest of the day so we stopped at a beach club where they prepared the fish and we had lunch. after that we went and fished some more. we were out for about 10 hours! i ended up going spearfishing with them later in the week. Carlos is an awesome freediver and showed me all the good spots and got me on my first fish with the spear. these guys are absolute legends and if you are looking for a boat in the tulum area, go with this crew!

I had an incredible experience with this spearfishing tour. Everything was perfectly organized from start to finish. The crew was professional, friendly, and made me feel safe the whole time. Greetings from Germany! The equipment was in excellent condition and high quality. You can really tell they care about safety and performance. They gave clear instructions and helpful tips, which made a big difference — especially for someone who wants to improve. We spent several hours in the water and the conditions were great. I even managed to catch two lobsters, including one really big one! It was an unforgettable experience. I would definitely book with them again and highly recommend this provider to anyone looking for a professional and fun spearfishing adventure.

We went out with Captain Nelson and Pimienta. They were super nice people to spend a day with. I highly recommend them, specially if you are going out with kids. We were a group of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids - 7 and 11 years old). My son had lots of questions and they were super kind on addressing them and teaching him a few things, such as putting the baits to the hooks, etc. My son was so happy at the end of the fishing tour. He also caught a few barracudas - it was not the best weather for fishing but I can tell Nelson and Pimienta were working hard to find spots where the fishes were. Once done fishing, Nelson took us snorkeling, where we were able to see sea turtles, sting rays and eagle rays. He also taught my son how to clean the fishes that he caught. One of them he made fillets, which he helped us get grilled at the restaurant on the beach (this was not part of the tour, but Nelson made it happen because he cared and he knew that would mean a lot for my son). I also like the boat departed from the beach in Tulum, which allowed us to enjoy the afternoon on the beach. It is not a big marina, which made it feel very charming and special. Overall, it was a great trip. We were out fishing for 3 to 3.5 hours and snorkeling for 0.5 to 1 hour. After that we ate lunch (including what we caught) in a restaurant by the departure point and swam a little bit on the ocean.

Capitán Nelson runs a top-notch operation. The captain and his crew are super professional, with excellent communication from start to finish, and they create a positive, friendly atmosphere on board. At the same time, they clearly know how to put you on fish – we went during Dorado season and got into them in a big way. I wholeheartedly recommend Capitán Nelson to anyone interested in fishing near Tulum, and I will definitely be back out with him on my next trip. Capitán, ¡que sigan las buenas capturas!
