We booked for Friday but fished on Sunday. Heavy wind kept port closed. Daily communication from Captain each day. Told us Thursday it would probably be Sunday and he was right. First fish was a 30 minute fight but broke the line as I was finally gaining line. Caught 2 barracuda after that. Lost one more after that. Spent last part of trip snorkeling off the Tulum Ruins. Saw sea turtles and rays and a bunch of smaller fish. There were only 2 of us and we apparently looked like we knew which end of a snorkel to suck on, so he took us out to reef. Pretty good surf but we meandered through cuts. Think he was looking for something particular but didn't find it. Maybe a friendly nurse shark? Used their equipment and it was better than most. Did not end up empty handed because the crew of the boat next to us gave us a filet of mahi and refused to take payment. High 5 and a fist bump instead. We will be back.

Hi Bruce Thank you for the great review — and especially for your flexibility with the weather. When the port closes, it's never ideal, but we're glad the communication helped and that Sunday worked out well in the end. That first 30-minute fight sounds like a serious one. The ones that break off are always the hardest to forget. Still, landing two barracudas and getting more action is a solid day on the water. Snorkeling off the Tulum Ruins and seeing turtles and rays is always a special way to finish. We're also happy you liked the equipment — we do our best to keep everything in top shape. And that mahi fillet moment with the other crew? That's the spirit out there. We'll be happy to have you back anytime. The reef will be waiting. Mexidivers Team
I have done plenty of ocean fishing charters throughout my life and this was by far my favorite experience. Our captain Robert is the absolute man! He was like Steve Erwin meets Chris Pontius meets David Attenborough. He knew infinitely cool facts about the carribbean reef and local history. On top of a cool crew, we caught two massive Barracuda and our other boat caught a 5 foot, 65 pound cuda as well as an amberjack and a mackeral. These guys know this reef and knew the bait swaps and troll technique to hook up consistently. It was a great day unless you were a beer or a fish! will def be back

Hi Jack Wow — what a review! Thank you so much for taking the time to share this. We're truly happy to hear this was your favorite ocean fishing experience, that means a lot. Captain Robert will absolutely love the comparison… Steve Irwin meets Chris Pontius meets David Attenborough might be the best description he's ever received haha! He's incredibly passionate about the Caribbean reef, the local history, and of course dialing in the right bait and trolling technique to stay consistently hooked up. Sounds like those barracudas showed up ready to play — and that 5-foot, 65-pound cuda is a serious catch. What a day. Thank you again for trusting us with your day on the water. We'll be ready for round two whenever you're back. Tight lines and see you soon! 🎣 The Mexidivers Team
What a wonderful experience. I took my 14 year old son for his first sea fishing experience. Carlos who runs the shop is a true fisherman and amusing and super fun. Apart from the fishing we had a great conversation about Yucatan, cities and ruins to visit. The crew were fantastic and friendly and showed us a great time with three fantastic catches and we finished off the day with a guided snorkelling 1 hour seeing sea turtles, sting rays and all manner of fish up close around the reef. What a day!!

Thank you very much for your review, hope to see you again :)
Captain Erwin and Mate Felipe worked extremely hard to get us on fish. They were constantly changing out for fresh bait, changing out the teasers, and constantly scanning for the Kites (birds) to indicate fish. They never took a break. They wanted fish to be caught. If you read the chart for offshore fishing, only three species are in the area in November. We caught two Barracuda. Mid spring until early fall numerous species are available including sport fish. There were at least 6 other hits but nothing else hooked. One misnomer from what I am accustomed to is 'bottom fishing'. The boat continually trolls, but what seemed to be at reduced RPM's and in shallower water over the reefs. (I suspect it is illegal to anchor or drop lines directly over the reef). When there is a hit, the Captain or Mate set the hook and then all you do is reel it in. I prefer feeling or seeing the hit myself, setting the hook or missing it is then entirely up to me. I can't imagine a crew working harder or more diligently to catch fish and please the customer. Both were very pleasant and tried to keep us engaged. Suggestion would be take a cushion to set on the fiberglass seats. With any kind of swell it's hard on a skinny butt. Weather was fantastic, with one small rain outburst.

Here's a natural, relaxed reply in your voice — acknowledging everything they shared and keeping it positive and appreciative: --- Thanks a lot for taking the time to share such a detailed review. Really appreciate it. Erwin and Felipe will be super happy to hear your words — they really do work nonstop out there to try to get you on fish, especially in November when the offshore options are limited. Barracuda are usually the most active this time of year, so it's great you landed two and had those extra hits as well. And yes, we keep trolling even for 'bottom fishing' because anchoring or dropping lines directly on the reef isn't allowed here (and we also try to protect the reef as much as possible). About the hook-setting — totally get what you're used to. Here we set it first so we don't lose the fish, since the bite can be quick and we want to make sure you get the rod with something on it. But I hear you, and thanks for sharing your preference. Really glad you came out with us, and hopefully next time you visit we'll be in the prime season with more species running. You're always welcome back onboard! 🎣🌊
Overall great experience! Captains Raphael and Felipe were awesome and tried very hard to make sure our first deep sea dive was successful and they accomplished that. Thank you to all at Mexidivers for a great time!

Thank you very much John & Family.. Always happy to reel in some good ones :)
