Half day on July 26, 202610/10 recommend this! Captain Mike and mate were the perfect crew for a perfect morning of fishing. This was a first for me and Mike was so responsive and patient in answering all my questions. The trip was a surprise for my boyfriend who is not a beginner and he said it was the best birthday surprise ever! We got right out in the water and had no shortage of fish to catch! An overall great day with great company and an overall great experience !

Full Day 8hrs on August 8, 2026 • 6 adults • 1 childI had my daughter's and grandsons with me for the charter. The captain warned us that walleye aren't bitting and we should consider perch fishing. Perch fishing would have been fine but the kids wanted walleye. We ended up with some very nice walleye and a good mess of perch. We all had a great time!

on May 10, 2024Fishing Booker Yes, I would be glad to give a review regarding my fishing trips with Captain Mike on the Erie Jem. But first a disclaimer should anyone happen to ask. My two trips were last year in 2024 before he secured his charter license but yes they were on the Erie Jem. The first trip targeted walleye and the second was for perch. Both were half day morning trips. Both were hugely successful and a lot of fun. The Charter may be new but Captain Mike has been fishing for many years in Lake Erie and is well schooled in fishing and better yet well connected with the local fisherman and Charter Captains. Fishing locations are based on where the locals are catching fish, not necessarily where most of the boats happen to congregate. Fifteen minutes and no fish and believe me, you are up and moving to a new spot. The Erie Jem appears to be very well outfitted and super clean. Lots of room for fishing and big enough for the wacky waves of Lake Erie and yet fast enough to get back to harbor when the weather prediction falls short. Enjoy your Charter. Lee Reibel

6 Hour Trip – Perch/Walleye on May 18, 2025We had a fabulous time on our most recent walleye fishing trip. We tried JEM sportfishing. We had heard great things about Mike, his knowledge of Lake Erie and his ability to put us on the fish. First day was a slow bite based on weather changes, but day 2 was fabulous! Highly recommend Capt Mike and Gem Sportfishing to anyone looking to have a successful fishing trip. Thanks Capt. Mike!!!

I have fished Lake Erie my entire life personally and professionally. In the 1980's, I was a first mate on the Lynn Marie for several years. We fished for walleye, perch, and smallmouth bass on Lake Erie and salmon and trout on Lake Michigan during July and August. I have caught numerous Fish Ohio walleye! My biggest was 33' and 13.6 lbs. I enjoy taking new clients/friends on Lake Erie to enjoy the bounty of the lake.
