Spend the day with Charlie Hookem and get hooked on fishing in Cape Coral!

You're likely to go after Snook, Redfish, Mangrove Snapper, Jack Crevalle, Goliath Grouper, Gag Grouper, Cobia, Tarpon, Black Drum, Sheepshead, Peacock Bass, Largemouth Bass, and more with any luck. On these trips, it's common to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle.

You'll be casting lines from a 23' Sea Born center console with space for 6 passengers. It comes with everything you need for a productive day on the water. Capt. Charlie will provide rods and reels for you, along with lures. Live bait is on offer, but be sure to ask about it so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.

Trips are run with the help of a First Mate. A 10–20% tip is customary to show your appreciation for their hard work.

Before coming aboard, you'll need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.

It's recommended to bring sunglasses, and sunscreen (non-spray). Drinks are included, free of charge. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be some light snacks included on board.

I chose Captain Carlos because the reviews said he was good with kids and I was taking my 12 year-old son. I figured if he was good with kids, he would have patience. And patience is what makes a good fisherman and captain. My son left the day a better fisherman, just like Carlos promised. My son had a very low confidence about fishing, but left the day feeling so proud of himself. 

Carlos did not disappoint. He took us right to where the fish were biting. But he did much more than that, which really made him stand out. He was attentive; always replacing our bait and getting us back in the water, offering advice on where to drop our lines, keeping us fed and hydrated, taking great pictures of our catch, and making fantastic conversation about fishing, the local communities, and the waters.

Carlos is a captain that knows what he is doing. We caught six different species: snook, sheepshead, pufferfish, mangrove snapper, spade fish, and grouper. He helped us successfully land all these and did an amazing job helping my 12 year-old son get the two biggest fish in the boat. My son catching a 20” sheepshead was a highlight for the whole boat!

I can’t recommend Carlos enough. Book him now and you won’t regret it! Next time I am here, he will be my go to!

Inshore Sanibel Fishing

Charlie took us to some great spots and we caught a lot of grouper and  snapper. We also caught a huge Amberjack which we were able to keep. Charlie processed our snapper and Jack on the boat for us which we all indulged in for a meal later that evening. lots of fun and he allowed us to bring our dog and drink some beers which added to the enjoyment. most importantly, he patiently assisted and taught the individuals that didn't have much angling experience.

Great trip

Short trip on February 18, 2026 • 2 adults • 2 children

Took 3 grandsons out with Captain Carlos. Had a fantastic day. Five year old out fished us all. We were on fish all morning. Close encounter with a dolphin. Enjoyed interacting with Captain and he was great with the boys. Will definitely book with him next year if we’re able to get back.

March fishing trip

3/4 day (6 hours) on March 19, 2026 • 5 adults

It was tough conditions but Charlie worked hard and put us on fish.  We were able to see a bunch of dolphins and a manatee.   Great conversation , good time had by all of 5 of us.   Would recommend him to anyone looking to catch fish and have a wonderful time.

Great day on the water

Had a fantastic day on the water with captain Charlie! Great communication before the trip, and very attentive the whole day. Nonstop sheeapshead action along with snook and snapper. We will definitely be going with him again and highly recomend booking for yourself!
